__PILOT REACHES MILESTONE__

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Bobby Knight, pilot at the Air Evac Lifeteam base in Poplar Bluff, recently celebrated the 2,000th flight of his career. Knight opened the Poplar Bluff base in March 2002. Before that, he worked in the Grand Canyon flying tours. He also served in the U.S. Navy and Army National Guard.

__MASSINGHAM HIRED AS CITY MANAGER__

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- The Poplar Bluff City Council voted unanimously July 6 to hire Mark Massingham as the new city manager, the Daily American Republic reported. Massingham has worked for the city for almost 25 years, most recently as assistant city manager. He had served as interim city manager since Heath Kaplan was fired in May. Massingham also served as interim city manager for three months after the May 2014 firing of Doug Bagby.

__ELITE TRAVEL AGENTS CONDUCT TOUR OF JAMAICA__

Carolyn Sandgren-Kempf, president of Elite Travel in Cape Girardeau, and Jaime Stroder, senior travel consultant at Elite Travel, recently returned from Jamaica, where they were guests of the Jamaica Tourist Board. Sandgren-Kempf and Stroder spent more than three nights inspecting resorts, amenities, activities and transportation.

__SCHREMP NAMED 'STELLAR TELLER'__

Rachel Schremp, a teller at U.S. Bank in Cape Girardeau, received a U.S. Bank Stellar Teller Award for the first quarter of 2015. The Stellar Teller Award recognizes employees in who are in the top 10 percent of community banking and have provided the best customer service. Schremp works at the U.S. Bank office at 3060 William St. This is her first Stellar Teller Award.

__MILBACH RETIRES AS CEO, REPLACEMENT NAMED__

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Ron Milbach will retire as CEO of Progressive Farm Credit Services on Dec. 31, after 24 years of service, and Robert (Bob) Smith has been appointed his successor, according to a news release. Smith began his career at Farm Credit in 1978 as a loan officer in the Dexter, Missouri, branch. He was promoted to vice president of credit in 1982 and promoted again to his current role as senior vice president/chief credit officer in 1992. Smith will begin his role as incoming CEO on Sept. 1, with several months of transition time before Milbach retires.

__MCDOWELL NAMED GENERAL MANAGER OF NEW HOTEL__

Matt McDowell was hired as general manager of the new Hampton Inn opening in late 2015 in Cape Girardeau, according to a news release from Midamerica Hotels Corp. McDowell has worked at Midamerica Hotels for 10 years, most recently as general manager of Auburn Place Hotel & Suites for four years.

__GLADBACH JOINS FARMINGTON CHAMBER__

FARMINGTON, Mo. -- Brittany Gladbach was hired as member relations/events coordinator at the Farmington Regional Chamber of Commerce. A Farmington native, Gladbach recently graduated from Central Methodist University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in business, emphasizing marketing and advertising, with a minor in math and sciences.

__BRUMBAUGH NAMED TO NEW ROLE AT FIRST MISSOURI STATE BANK__

Lance Brumbaugh recently was elected by First Missouri State Bank's board of directors to serve as bank officer and lobby services manager at the bank's Mount Auburn Road location in Cape Girardeau. In the role, Brumbaugh will supervise new accounts and teller and reception areas and assist with technology needs, a news release stated. He has worked at the bank since 2008 and is a 2006 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, according to the release.

__GLOVER NAMED GENERAL MANAGER FOR CAPE MARKET__

Ronnie Glover recently was named general manager of Max Media and River Radio's Cape Girardeau market. In the role, Glover oversees sales operations and daily programming for an eight-cluster station group and develops and grows relationships in the advertising community from the office at 324 Broadway in Cape Girardeau, a news release stated. Glover most recently held the title of general sales manager at River Radio and has more than 17 years of media sales experience in positions in Virginia, Tennessee, Mississippi and Michigan.

__SHAVER COMPLETES BROKER REQUIREMENTS__

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Becky Shaver of Century 21 Premiere Realty received her real estate broker's license for Missouri. She will continue to specialize in residential property sales in the Sikeston area, according to a news release from Premiere. Shaver completed extensive training and licensing through the Professional School of Real Estate. During the 48-hour program, she received advanced training in broker responsibilities, office operations, requirements, regulations, financing and management.

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Stephanie Knoppe was top producer for June at Mossy Oak Properties, and Sandy Rickman and Chris Rickman were top listers for the month.

Two City of Jackson managers were among 19 participants to complete a Supervisory Leadership Certification by the Missouri Public Utility Alliance. Rodney Bollinger, public works director, and Kent Peetz, director of wastewater utilities, each received a Certification of Supervisory Leadership from MPUA and will be recognized among statewide municipal utility peers at an upcoming MPUA board meeting. Bollinger and Peetz completed 24 hours of training designed to develop supervisory leadership skills in current or future leadership roles, according to a news release.

__BOOTHEEL REGIONAL PLANNING HIRES DIRECTOR__

DEXTER, Mo. -- A new executive director for the Bootheel Regional Planning and Economic Development Commission has been hired take to take the place of retiring director Steve Duke, the Dexter Daily Statesman reported. The announcement was made in mid-July at a regular meeting of the commission. David Blalock of Malden, Missouri, was hired for the position and began his new duties Aug. 3. He previously was a transportation project designer at the Missouri Department of Transportation for 31 years. The search still is underway for a new economic development director. Connie Duke, who also is retiring, has held the position for nearly 34 years.

__HENDRICKSON EARNS MERGER, ACQUISITION DESIGNATION__

Jennifer Hendrickson, business broker and owner of the Murphy Business office in Cape Girardeau, earned the designation of Certified Merger and Acquisition Intermediary. She traveled to Dallas in June to spend time with industry experts and other brokers from around the country who also were invited to attend the conference. CMAI designation certifies Hendrickson to assist buyers and sellers with larger transactions, according to a news release. Typically business brokers facilitate transactions up to about $5 million; CMAI designation allows her to handle engagements between $5 million and $500 million, a segment deemed the "middle market."

__SHELTON INTRODUCED AS UNITED WAY DIRECTOR__

Elizabeth Shelton is the new executive director of The United Way of Southeast Missouri. She was introduced July 23 during the organization's Leadership Luncheon, and she stepped into the role Aug. 10. She has a background in marketing as owner of Write Results Marketing. The United Way of Southeast Missouri had been without a director since May. Nancy Jernigan had held the position since 1995. She left the organization after coming to a mutual agreement with the board of directors the change was in its best interest, according to a news release issued at the time. A search committee was formed to look for the next executive director.

__CRADER RECEIVES MISSOURIAN AWARD__

David Crader, chief executive officer of The Bank of Missouri and chairman of Reliable Community Bancshares Inc., was named a recipient of the Missourian Award, a recognition for outstanding contributions to the state or nation in the fields of civics, business, arts or politics, according to a news release from the bank. Crader was chosen for his work with Teen Challenge, the release stated. He serves as vice chairman of the board of directors of Teen Challenge USA. James Bolin of Teen Challenge Mid-America said in the release Crader has been "an avid supporter" of the organization for nearly 20 years. Crader was honored at a reception Aug. 15 at Chateau on the Lakes Convention Center in Branson, Missouri. Past recipients of the award include Walter Cronkite, Walt Disney and Harry S. Truman. To be eligible for the award, one must be born in Missouri, or under exceptional circumstances, may qualify by having spent at least 15 years of his or her life in the state, according to the release.

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Terri Whitten was top lister and top producer for June at Coldwell Banker Ruth Holloway Realty.

WELSH JOINS STAFF AT IT'S YOUR HAIR

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Patricia Welsh joined the staff at It's Your Hair. She has more than 30 years of experience in the hair service business, and owned and operated her own salon before relocating to Poplar Bluff.

__JENKINS JOINS SOUTHERN BANK__

DEXTER, Mo. -- Lea Jenkins joined Southern Bank in Dexter as a lender. She graduated from Richland High School, Three Rivers College and the Barrett School of Banking in Memphis, Tennessee. She has six years of banking experience, with the last three years concentrating on residential mortgage lending.

__OLIVE GARDEN MANAGER NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED__

Troy Mool, general manager of the Olive Garden in Cape Girardeau, attained parent company Darden Restaurants' Diamond Club status. He joins a group of top-performing general managers recognized for their commitment to delivering guest experiences at the highest level, while making a difference in the lives of guests, employees and in the community, according to a news release. This year, Mool joins 42 general managers selected from the more than 800 Olive Garden restaurants in North America.

__PINNELL NAMED MORTGAGE LENDING OFFICER__

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Heather Pinnell was named assistant vice president and mortgage lending officer at First Midwest Bank in Sikeston. She has been a mortgage loan processor at the bank for eight years.

__BEDELL APPOINTED TO CONSERVATION COMMISSION__

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Don C. Bedell of Sikeston recently was reappointed by Gov. Jay Nixon to the Missouri Conservation Commission. The commission protects and manages fish, forest and wildlife resources in the state. Bedell's appointment for a term ending in July 2021 will be subject to confirmation by the Missouri Senate. Bedell has been a member of the commission since 2009 and served a term as chairman. He owns businesses in Sikeston, Missouri, and Batesville, Arkansas, and founded the Health Facilities Management Corporation, a nursing-home management firm.

__GREEN JOINS FIRST MISSOURI STATE BANK__

Steve Green recently joined First Missouri State Bank in Cape Girardeau as senior vice president of commercial lending. He has more than 25 years of local lending experience and has worked for large national banks and small community banks, according to a news release from the bank.

__KLAUS HONORED FOR PERFORMANCE__

Brayton "Gus" Klaus, a financial representative at Northwestern Mutual in Cape Girardeau, was honored for performance as a top intern in the country at the company's annual meeting in Wisconsin. Klaus ranked 10th in the country in insurance production among more than 3,500 college interns, according to a news release. He completed an internship in the Cape Girardeau office in May, during which he set an all-time production record. Klaus recently earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Southeast Missouri State University and joined the office as a full-time financial representative.

__JATEFF HONORED FOR RETAIL SALES__

Jana Jateff of Cape Girardeau, a sales director for Mary Kay cosmetics, was honored in the company's national court of retail sales in Dallas for the 21st time after producing more than $55,000 in personal retail sales this fiscal year, according to a news release. Jateff ranks among the top 2 percent of sellers nationwide and was honored for winning her 20th free car from the company. She has sold Mary Kay for 32 years.

__HICKS, MCCOY LEAD CENTURY 21__

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Carla Hicks was top producer for June at Century 21 American Realty, and Melba Jean McCoy was top lister for the month.
