RIEGER NAMED FAULKNER CENTER DIRECTOR

Dr. Christopher Rieger, associate professor of English at Southeast Missouri State University, was named director of the school's Center for Faulkner Studies, effective Aug. 1. The announcement was made by Dr. Carol Scates, chair of the Department of English. Rieger replaces Dr. Robert Hamblin, the founding director of the center, who is retiring. Rieger joined Southeast's faculty in 2007, after teaching the previous four years at Westminster College in Fulton, Mo. He has served as the assistant director of the Faulkner Center since 2008.

LEDBETTER NAMED REP OF THE MONTH

ESSEX, Mo. -- Ron Ledbetter of Essex, financial representative with Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial, was representative of the month in the Missouri east region for June. He has been with the company since 1992.

CROSSFIELD RETIRES FROM POWER PLANT

NEW MADRID, Mo. -- Theresa L. Crossfield retired as safety administrator at New Madrid Power Plant after 20 years with Associated Electric Cooperative, which owns and operates the plant.

SIKESTON CITY EMPLOYEES HONORED

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Billy Hammon was employee of the third quarter for the Sikeston Department of Public Works. He serves in the parks division. Brent Mullin, field training officer, was employee of the third quarter for the Sikeston Department of Public Safety.

MCLEAN JOINS MOSSY OAK

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Amy McLean joined Mossy Oak Properties Mozark Realty. She has been a Realtor since 2005 and was previously broker/owner of Access Realty. She is also an accredited staging professional. For the last year and a half she has been working locally in banking and mortgage lending.

LOCALS SELECTED FOR LEADERSHIP CLASS

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Ten employees with Alliance Water Resources were chosen to participate in the Leadership Alliance Class of 2013. Leadership Alliance was developed by Alliance in 2006 to promote advancement from within. Southeast Missouri employees selected for the program include Mark Kelsay, wastewater treatment operator of Cape Girardeau, and Joseph Schweiss, field maintenance mechanic of Ste. Genevieve, Mo. The program strives to connect employees' technical proficiency with the increasing need for governmental, professional and communications expertise. Participants will complete a total of two, two-day intensive training sessions on industry topics. Instruction on public project funding, workforce planning, governmental processes and other system management comprehension are included in the program. Participants also complete self-study homework assignments and are required to give a presentation to the group.

HANEY TAKES NEW ROLE WITH WOOD & HUSTON

After leading mortgage loan efforts at Wood & Huston's Cape Girardeau branch, Scott Haney has been named a commercial loan officer. He has 10 years of lending experience, including six years with Wood & Huston.

PHILLIPS JOINS WOOD & HUSTON

Ashton Phillips joined Wood & Huston's Cape Girardeau branch as a mortgage loan officer. She brings four years of financial services experience.

TRONCALE, SCHRADER RECOGNIZED FOR SALES, SERVICE

Kendra Troncale and Jayne Schrader, financial associates with SEMO Associates of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, qualified for the Summit Circle conference by providing financial guidance and solutions to members of the organization in 2012. Nine percent of Thrivent Financial's nearly 2,300 financial representatives qualified for the honor. Troncale, with offices in Jackson and Perryville, Mo., and Schrader, of Jackson, are with Thrivent Financial's Kansas/Missouri regional financial office. Both women were recognized by their peers from across the country at Thrivent Financial's annual conference. They have each been with Thrivent for 14 years.

TRONCALE EARNS CFP DESIGNATION

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Kendra Troncale, financial representative with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, earned the certified financial planner certification granted by the CFP Board of Standards in Washington D.C. She is now authorized to use the mark CFP in accordance with CFP Board certification and license renewal requirements. A resident of Perryville, Troncale is a registered representative of Thrivent Investment Management Inc., a subsidiary of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Ronnie Cline joined Poplar Bluff Realty Inc. as a real estate agent. He previously worked at Briggs & Stratton for 19 years, most recently as a production supervisor. He is also a certified personal trainer.

BULLINGTON JOINS FIRST COMMUNITY

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Todd Bullington was hired as a loan officer for First Community Bank in Poplar Bluff, effective July 15. A recent graduate of the University of Arkansas, he previously worked as an intern at the bank for three summers, with duties in teller operations and loan administration. He is based in the Poplar Bluff South location, where his primary duties are in lending, general bank operations and business development.

PERRYVILLE HIRES PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Mark Brown was hired as public works director in Perryville, the Republic-Monitor reported. The position had been vacant since 2008. Brown is leaving his job in Cordova, Tenn., where he owned a construction company for 15 years. Before construction, he spent much of his career in the public works field, including as the first-ever public works director in Jackson for two years, where he headed nine different departments.

SEABAUGH NAMED SALES MANAGER AT COAD CHEVROLET

Coad Chevrolet in Cape Girardeau named Jimmy Seabaugh as the dealership's new sales manager. He previously worked in finance at Coad Toyota.

JATEFF RECOGNIZED BY MARY KAY COSMETICS

Jana Jateff of Cape Girardeau was honored in Mary Kay Cosmetics' National Court of Sales in Dallas. The event marked Jateff's 18th time in the court of sales. She received a diamond and amethyst ring for her efforts, was recognized on the national stage and was honored at a reception. Jateff has been with Mary Kay Cosmetics for 30 years and has earned the use of 19 free cars.

WELLS REAPPOINTED TO 911 ADVISORY COMMITTEE

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Gov. Jay Nixon reappointed Alan H. Wells of Farmington, Mo., to the Advisory Committee for 911 Service Oversight. The committee aids in collecting and disseminating information relating to use of a universal emergency telephone number; reviews existing and proposed legislation; provides recommendations for model systems considered in preparing a model 911 service plan; and provides requested mediation services to political subdivisions involved in 911 jurisdictional disputes. Wells has served as director of the St. Francois County Joint Communications 911 Center since 1993. He previously was an undercover drug narcotics enforcement officer for the St. Francois County Sheriff's Department. The governor reappointed him for a term ending April 9, 2016.

DUNN EARNS PROJECT MANAGEMENT DESIGNATION

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Robert Dunn, project manager for Robinson Construction Co., earned the designation of Project Management Professional from the Project Management Institute. The designation demonstrates experience, education and competency in project management and is a globally recognized standard for the project management profession.

HENDERSON JOINS ANIMAL CLINIC

Dr. Emily Henderson joined the practice of Dr. Walter Branscum at Tilsit Road Animal Clinic near Jackson. She is a 2013 graduate of the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine.

MILLER, SORRELL APPOINTED TO STATE COMMITTEE

Gov. Jay Nixon appointed Kathie A. Miller of Dexter, Mo., and Sharon E. Sorrell of Poplar Bluff, Mo., to the State Committee for Social Workers. The committee protects Missourians through the licensing of licensed clinical social workers and baccalaureate social workers and assessing their competence to practice, and investigates all complaints against its licensees in a fair and equitable manner. A licensed clinical social worker, Miller is an instructor for the Social Work Department at Southeast Missouri State University and has served as a member of the National Association of Social Workers since 1990. The governor reappointed her for a term ending Oct. 23, 2016. Sorrell is a licensed clinical social worker employed by the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. She previously served as a sex offender treatment specialist for the Farmington Correctional Center and also operated a private practice. The governor appointed her for a term ending Oct. 23, 2015.
