EIGHT COMPLETE DALE CARNEGIE COURSE

Hendrickson Business Advisors of Cape Girardeau announced the most recent group to graduate from the Dale Carnegie Course since forming their partnership with Dale Carnegie Training -- St. Louis. During the course the participants focused on self-confidence, building relationships, motivation, effective communication, stress and worry management and leadership skills. The eight graduates of the course are Jaymon Alvis of Murphy-Wall State Bank and Trust, Nicolette Brennan of the City of Cape Girardeau, Bryan Burger of Columbia Construction, Brian Kelly of Southeast Missouri State University, Mark Ponder of Do It Best, Michael Rhodes of URS, Kate Stephens of Faith Perceptions and Justin Thompson of Nestle Purina. Rhett Hendrickson facilitated the Dale Carnegie session and was assisted by course graduates Dr. Bruce Skinner of Southeast Missouri State University and John McGowan of Love Inc.

MONDI JACKSON HONORS EMPLOYEES

Robert Orr of Cape Girardeau was employee of the month for October at Mondi Jackson Inc., formerly called Nordenia USA Inc. Orr, a conversion operator, has been with the company since November 2003. Mondi Jackson also recognizes the following employment anniversaries: Michael Keller and Ritsuko Stone, 15 years of service, and Timothy Scott and Robert Burnham, five years.

STUEVER ELECTED TO CHAIRMAN POST

DEXTER, Mo. -- Jim Stuever, a corn grower from Dexter, was elected chairman of the Missouri Corn Merchandising Council. The vote took place during the organization's August board meeting. Stuever assumed his new role Oct. 1, succeeding Rob Korff of Norborne, Mo. Stuever represents corn farmers from District 7 in the southeast region of the state. He previously served as MCMC treasurer and vice chairman, and Missouri Corn Growers Association vice president. Stuever has also represented corn farmers nationally, currently serving on the National Corn Growers Association Trade and Biotechnology Action Team and as chairman of the U.S. Grains Council Biotech Advisory Team.

FICKERT GETS TOP HONOR

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Miranda Fickert, market president at U.S. Bank in Poplar Bluff, won the U.S. Bank Pinnacle Award, the company's highest employee achievement honor. Fickert was among a select number of top performing employees nationwide to win the award for outstanding achievement and superior performance in her previous role as commercial relationship manager. This is Fickert's second Pinnacle Award. She has worked at U.S. Bank for eight years.

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Kurt Knodell was top lister and top producer for August at Poplar Bluff Realty Inc.

HAHS GROUP ADDS THREE

Brittany Meek of Marble Hill, Mo., Megan Janet of Cape Girardeau and Bobby Rushing of Pinkneyville, Ill., joined Northwest Mutual Financial Network -- The Hahs Group in Cape Girardeau. Meek is director of recruitment and selection, Janet is director of campus selection and Rushing is a financial representative.

CAPE CHAMBER HONORS EDUCATORS

The Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce Education Committee honored area educators at a reception Oct. 16. Those honored as 2012 Educators of the Year were Lee Ann Norris, special services teacher at Cape Central High School; Stacy Stapleton, third-grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary School; Marty Vines, social studies teacher at Cape Central High School; and Dr. John Kraemer, professor in the biology department at Southeast Missouri State University. According to Tim Arbeiter, vice president for community development at the chamber, teachers are nominated by the community, and the review committee, comprised of volunteers from the chamber membership, selects three teachers from Cape Girardeau public schools and one from Southeast Missouri State University. All four teachers received a Crystal Apple Award, a $500 check and were featured in a tribute video during the reception.

DEXTER, Mo. -- Kyle Christian was named commercial relationship manager for the Dexter branch of Montgomery Bank. He previously worked as a personal banker with Montgomery.

TYSON PRESENTS SERVICE AWARDS

DEXTER, Mo. -- Tyson held its quarterly awards program Oct. 11, honoring employees for years of service to the company. Those recognized for 20 years were Jannie Bell and Gordon Greene. Those marking 15 years were William Pulliam, Paulette Handy, Tracy Cross, Brenda Vaughn, Betty Boyer and Remell Walker. Those recognized for 10 years were Mary Conley, Sandra Breitweg, Ruby Stephens, Mattie Robinson, Rebecca Null, Quanticka McCoy, Toye Smith, Cody Edwards, Shannon Owens and Sherry Aaron. Those marking five years were Demetrius Gaines, Charlotte Scott, Lydia Daniels, Kathy Wilson, Ronald Neeley and Rusty Boatright.

MCBROOM JOINS UNIVERSITY STAFF

Jeremy McBroom of Cape Girardeau was named director of the newly created Office of Military and Veterans Services at Southeast Missouri State University. He began his new duties Oct. 22. A seasoned veteran with 15 years of military service, McBroom joins Southeast as a member of the U.S. Army Reserve. He most recently completed two years as battalion communications officer, earning two Meritorious Service Medals with the U.S. Army at Fort Hood, Texas, and in Kuwait. McBroom said the Office of Military and Veterans Services will offer advising services to help military and veteran students navigate through the college experience from application to graduation.

KUYKENDALL NAMED MANAGER AT FUNERAL CHAPEL

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Danny Kuykendall of Sikeston was named manager, funeral director and embalmer at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. Kuykendall began his career in the funeral industry at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo.

HOLT RETIRES; BELOW, SKINNER PROMOTED

The Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents approved the promotion of two university staff members due to the retirement of Dr. Dennis Holt, vice president of enrollment management and student success and dean of students. Holt relinquishes his role as vice president Dec. 31, 2012, and will serve as special assistant to the president for institutional research and assessment until Dec. 31, 2013. According to university president Kenneth W. Dobbins, Holt will continue to report to the president and will work on several special projects. Dr. Debbie Below, associate vice president of enrollment management and student success and director of admissions, was promoted to vice president for enrollment management and student success and dean of students. Dr. Bruce Skinner, director of residence life, was promoted to associate vice president for student success and director of residence life. Both promotions are effective Jan. 1

DEE JOINS P.B. REALTY

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Bill Dee joined Poplar Bluff Realty Inc. as a real estate agent. He previously worked at Office Depot for five years and has been self-employed in the computer industry for 20 years.

HOWARD APPOINTED TO GAMING COMMISSION

Cape Girardeau lawyer Diane C. Howard was appointed to the Missouri Gaming Commission by Gov. Jay Nixon. She was appointed Oct. 23 for a term that expires April 29, 2015. Howard is a partner with The Limbaugh Firm, where she has worked since 1984. Before joining that firm, she served four years active duty with the United States Navy JAG Corps as a criminal prosecutor. She is retired from the Navy Reserves as a captain after 25 years.

SIKESTON CITY EMPLOYEES HONORED

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Bobby Penrod, field training officer, was employee of the fourth quarter for the Sikeston Department of Public Safety. Bill Nance was employee of the fourth quarter for the Sikeston Department of Public Works.

BOOTHEEL MAN GETS GOVERNOR'S AG AWARD

SENATH, Mo. -- Charles Parker, co-owner of Parker and Jones Cotton Farm and chairman of the Progressive Farm Credit in Sikeston, Mo., received the Governor's Award for Agriculture Achievement. Gov. Jay Nixon presented the award on Oct. 22. The award honors outstanding farmers, growers and processors for their work with agricultural commodities and their communities.

SATTERFIELD INDUCTED TO HALL OF FAME

SIKESTON, Mo. -- James Satterfield of Satterfield's Wrecking Service in Sikeston was one of 10 inducted to the International Towing and Recovery Hall of Fame at Chattanooga, Tenn., the Sikeston Standard Democrat reported. The Hall of Fame, part of the International Towing Museum, seeks to honor individuals for their contributions to the towing and recovery industry, their families and their communities.

OZARK EMPLOYEES APPOINTED TO STATE COMMITTEES

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Three people associated with Ozark Border Electric Cooperative in Poplar Bluff were appointed as district representatives to committees of the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives in Jefferson City, Mo. Ozark employee Robert Henson was appointed district representative to the regulatory compliance committee; cooperative director Mark Yarbro was appointed to the executive committee; and Ozark manager Stanley Estes was appointed to the training and development committee.

MATTHEWS NAMED CAMPUS COORDINATOR

KENNETT, Mo. -- The Kennett Campus of Three Rivers Community College has a new coordinator, the Daily Dunklin Democrat reported. Ann Matthews of Malden, Mo., took over her duties at the center on Sept. 24, replacing Derrick Miller of Poplar Bluff, Mo., who relocated back to the Poplar Bluff campus. Matthews was previously assistant coordinator at the Three Rivers Center in Dexter, Mo.

WOODARD TO LEAD BUSINESS SECTOR AT COMMERCE

Tim Woodard joined Commerce Bank of Cape Girardeau to lead the business banking sector in Southeast Missouri. Woodard first joined Commerce Bank of Champaign, Ill., in 2010, where he was responsible for developing new business prospects and cultivating existing client relationships. He has more than 20 years of commercial banking experience.

MOTT RECOGNIZED FOR 25 YEARS OF SERVICE

Experience Works, a not-for-profit training and employment organization for older workers through the Senior Community Service Employment Program, recognized Bob Mott of Hayti, Mo., for 25 years of outstanding service to local older workers. Mott, an employment and training coordinator since 1987, helps low-income older workers obtain the training they need to find good jobs in their communities. Mott's territory includes Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Dunklin, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Perry, Scott, Stoddard and Wayne counties.

NURSING INSTRUCTOR GETS LEADERSHIP AWARD

PARK HILLS, Mo. -- Paula Thompson, LPN instructor at Mineral Area College and emergency room nurse at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center, received the Florence Nightingale Award at an Oct. 12 awards banquet hosted by the Heartland Chapter of the Emergency Nurses Association. The award is awarded annually on behalf of the Emergency Nurses Association Leadership and recognizes a leader in the emergency field who devotes his or her life to advancing, honoring and leading the profession.

REYNOLDS GETS STATE HONOR

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Lisa Reynolds, an independent insurance agent with Lisa Reynolds Insurance in Poplar Bluff, received statewide recognition from Group Benefits Ltd. as a 2012 Top Health Insurance Agent based on her work with the individual insurance maker and also with employer group benefits. Reynolds has been in the insurance industry since 1986 and specializes in working with seniors.

STUART WINS SENIOR SERVICE AWARD

PARK HILLS, Mo. -- Dr. Diana Stuart received the Missouri Community College Association's Senior Service Award at the association's 48th annual convention Oct. 31 in Kansas City, Mo. The award recognizes Stuart's service to Mineral Area College and to the mission of community colleges throughout the state. Stuart first joined Mineral Area College in 1988 as an adjunct instructor and later became a full-time faculty member. She is currently chair of the teacher education program.

JACKSON JOINS KRCU TEAM

Alex Jackson of Cape Girardeau was named chief development officer with KRCU in Cape Girardeau. He began his new duties Oct. 1, following a national search conducted over the summer. He replaces Amanda Lincoln, who accepted a new position in June as director of development with the Southeast Missouri University Foundation. As KRCU's development director, Jackson is responsible for securing corporate underwriting support, membership activities and major donor initiatives. He also represents the radio station to the business community. Jackson, originally from Cairo, Ill., previously worked for Southeast as coordinator of the annual fund.

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Melissa Mosby was employee of the month for October at TG Missouri. She has been with the company since Dec. 1, 2003, and works in the polyurethane department.
