Michael Ponder of Jackson was employee of the month for June at Nordenia USA Inc. Ponder, a conversion operator, has been with the company since October 2006. Nordenia also recognized Gregory Brown and Caleb Craft for five years of service to the company.

BELLADONA WELCOMES NEW EMPLOYEES

Belladona Salon & Spa added the following new employees to its City Centre location in Cape Girardeau: stylist Christie Lind, who is certified colorist for Italy Hair Color; esthetician Martha Parsons-Wakin; makeup artist Ashley Taylor; licensed massage therapist Debbera Miller; stylist Danetta Mason; and stylist and nail technician Jodi Payne. GILLIAM RANKS NO. 1 WITH COLDWELL

PARK HILLS, Mo. -- Mary Gilliam, a broker/officer with Coldwell Banker Hulsey Real Estate, ranked No. 1 in closed adjusted gross commission income in 2011 for Coldwell Banker affiliate offices in Missouri. Gilliam has been with Coldwell Banker Hulsey Real Estate for 27 years.

LINCOLN NAMED DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

Amanda Lincoln, development director with KRCU Radio, was named director of development with the Southeast Missouri University Foundation. She replaces Sam Duncan, who resigned to accept a new position. Lincoln, a Jackson resident, began her new duties June 4. She is responsible for identifying, cultivating and soliciting donors among alumni and friends of the university to make current and deferred gifts to the foundation to benefit the academic mission of the university. She will also implement stewardship strategies, including planning and coordinating special events.

DNR NAMES NEW HEAD OF REGIONAL OFFICE

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Jackson Bostic took over May 1 as head of the local Missouri Department of Natural Resources regional office. He replaces Gary Gaines, who retired in February, the Daily American Republic reported. Bostic began with the department as a soil scientist and previously served about 10 years as an on-scene coordinator for the Environmental Emergency Response section and two years as ombudsman for Southeast Missouri. Most recently, he had been an environmental specialist.

BIG RIVER ADDS TWO TECHNOLOGY JOBS

FARMINGTON, Mo. -- Big River Broadband added two employees to the technology side of the business: Christopher McCluskey, network engineer for the advanced wireless spectrum Big River is working to deploy, and Zach Hardesty, systems administrator working out of Broadband headquarters.

GRIGGS NAMED CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Bill Zellmer, franchisee of Buffalo Wild Wings & Bagger Dave's, named Lonnie Griggs chief operating officer. Griggs partnered with Zellmer in 2007 to open and oversee all operations of the six Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants and the new Bagger Dave's in Cape Girardeau. The chief operating officer title recognizes Griggs' ongoing responsibilities for all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the seven restaurants. All the general managers report directly to Griggs. Griggs has 24 years of experience in the restaurant field.

SCHNURBUSCH JOINS ROUND TABLE

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Bernard Schnurbusch of Greater Heartland Agency achieved membership in the Million Dollar Round Table -- The Premier Association of Financial Professionals. This membership is achieved by less than 1 percent of the world's life insurance and financial services professionals. It requires Schnurbusch to follow a strict code of ethics, focus on providing top-notch client services and continue to grow professionally through involvement in at least one other industry association.

NOVAK RECOGNIZED FOR WORK AS FINANCIAL ADVISER

Jackson financial adviser Tom Novak received an award from RiverSource Life Insurance Co. The award recognizes Ameriprise financial advisers who have helped clients use annuity solutions to help plan for retirement in 2011.

MO. BROADCASTERS HONORS TWO LOCALS

Two broadcasters from Mississippi River Radio LLC received top honors at a banquet of the Missouri Broadcasters Association at Lake of the Ozarks. Erik Sean, sports director of MRR LLC and host of the HUDDLE on ESPN 1220, received first place for his play-by-play announcing for the Southeast Missouri State University Redhawks games. Faune Riggin, KZIM KSIM Morning News Watch host and news director, received first place for feature reporting for her coverage of the Teddy Hearts Program assisting small children undergoing heart surgery and recovery.

SAFE HOUSE HAS NEW DIRECTOR

Michelle Scherer of Benton, Mo., is the new executive director of the Safe House for Women in Cape Girardeau. Scherer, a former administrator in Missouri's Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, spent the past 20 years traveling around Missouri dealing with state and federal agencies. She began her new duties at the Safe House on June 18. She replaces Linda Garner, who resigned Jan. 27, prompting a four-month search for her replacement, said interim director Allison Leonard. Leonard is director of the shelter.

The center trains linemen in safe procedures while working with high-voltage underground electrical lines and equipment.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Trooper David Crank of Sikeston, Mo., Corporal Shane Stewart of Charleston, Mo., and Sergeant Richard Sanders of Bloomfield, Mo., were invited to the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City, where they were recognized as Outstanding Missourians by the Missouri Hosue of Representatives. They were each presented with an Outstanding Missourian Courtesy Resolution, which recognizes their bravery and strength of character.

SMYTHE RECOGNIZED FOR VIEWPOINT SEGMENT

KBSI Fox 23 general manager Mike Smythe won his 10th Best Editorial Award at the Missouri Broadcasters Association annual convention for his ViewPoint segment that aired on KFVS12. Smythe retired from the station in 2011 but returned to Cape Girardeau to run FOX 23 KBSI (Fox) and MY 49 WDKA (MyNetwork TV) in March. Since returning, Smythe has continued his commentaries. His new segments are now are called "Perspective" and air at 9:55 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Sunday.

HENDRICKSON ANNOUNCES CARNEGIE GRADUATES

Hendrickson Business Advisors of Cape Girardeau announced the most recent group to graduate from the Dale Carnegie Course since forming a partnership with Dale Carnegie Training in St. Louis. NOTO CERTIFIED AS WINE LOCATION SPECIALIST

Brian Noto of Cape Girardeau was recognized as a wine location specialist by the Center for Wine Origins. The Washington, D.C.-based organization aims to educate about the importance of location when it comes to wine and to gain greater protection of wine place names. The certificate is accredited by the Comite Interprofessionnel du Vin de Champagne and the Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e Porto. Noto plans to lead a series of wine education seminars, tastings and dinners specific to the Champagne and Port regions.

CALL ACHIEVES ADVANCED CERTIFICATION

Don Call, a board member in the Cape Girardeau School District, achieved advanced certification in the Missouri School Boards' Association Certified Board Member program. All newly elected school board members must complete a 16-hour program required by state law. Those achieving advanced certification complete an additional 12 hours of training, read two books related to school board service, attend several workshops and write an essay relating their study to their board service.

WILLIAMS NAMED NEW SUPERINTENDENT

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Tom Williams was appointed superintendent for the Sikeston School District June 12, the Sikeston Standard Democrat reported. He replaces Steve Borgsmiller, who retired June 30 and accepted a new job as director of Southeast Missouri State University-Sikeston. Williams has worked in the Sikeston School District for 23 years. He spent 13 years as high school principal until his recent appointment as assistant superintendent of secondary education and professional development. He began his new duties July 1.

DARNELL TAKES HOME DRIVING AWARD

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Wayne Darnell, a Con-way Freight truck driver in Poplar Bluff, took home his sixth trophy from the 45th annual Missouri Truck Driving Championships held June 8 and 9 in Kansas City, Mo., the Daily American Republic reported. The competition tests truck drivers on their knowledge and performance of highway safety, including a written test, pre-trip inspection, a personal interview and driving course. Darnell, who has 28 years of truck driving experience, won second place in the Twin Trailer Class.

NIXON APPOINTS PROSECUTOR FOR RIPLEY COUNTY

DONIPHAN, Mo. -- Gov. Jay Nixon appointed Christopher Miller of Doniphan as prosecuting attorney for Ripley County. He replaces Monte Phillips, who resigned in early June. Miller operates a law practice in Doniphan and has served as county prosecutor three times, most recently from 2007 to 2010. He is also city attorney for both Doniphan and Naylor, Mo.

THOMPSON RECEIVES SILVER BEAVER AWARD

John Thompson, president of The Bank of Missouri, received the Silver Beaver Award June 14 from the Boy Scouts of America Greater St. Louis Area Council. The award recognizes long and exceptional service impacting the lives of youth. The Silver Beaver is the highest-level service award presented by a local council. Candidates are confidentially nominated by a third person and selected by a committee made up of past recipients. Thompson is involved in the community via the SEMO Regional Port Authority, Southeast Health Hospital Board of Trustees, Cape Girardeau County Industrial Development Authority, Jackson Industrial Development Authority, United Way, New McKendree United Methodist Church and the Jackson Chamber of Commerce.

Steve Naeter of Cape Girardeau joined Garber's Menswear as a full-time sales associate. Naeter previously worked at Garber's in the mid-1980s before leaving to join the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. Naeter previously worked as business manager and salesman at Capetown RV Sales and as a manager for Rhodes 101 Stops.

LOGGERS COMPLETE TRAINING

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- The Missouri Forest Products Association held Professional Timber Harvester Logger training in Perryville. Participants included Kara Bader, Missouri Department of Conservation, New Madrid, Mo.; Donald Cureton, DRC Logging, Greenville, Mo.; Dennis Green and Jason Smith, Green's Sawmill Co., Greenville; Linn Tucker, Missouri Department of Conservation, Farmington, Mo.; Gary Williams, Annapolis, Mo.; David Welker, Missouri Department of Conservation, Cape Girardeau; Joe Glenn, instructor; Dustin Lindgren and Travis Chisum, D. Lindgren Logging, Patton, Mo.; Doug Wheelehon, Eagle Sky of the Ozarks, Patterson, Mo.; and Tommy Petzoldt, East Perry Lumber Co., Frohna, Mo. The training prepares loggers to sustain forest resources and includes five days of instruction.

BAGBY RECOGNIZED AS TOP FINANCIAL ADVISER

DEXTER, Mo. -- Mike Bagby, independent financial adviser at Bagby Investment Consultants in Dexter, was recognized as a top financial adviser and named to the LPL Financial Chairman's Club. The distinction is based on a ranking of all registered advisers supported by LPL, the nation's largest independent broker dealer, and is awarded to less than 6 percent of the firm's approximately 12,800 advisers.

BOMMARITO JOINS FIRST STATE INSURANCE

PARK HILLS, Mo. -- Theresa Bommarito is the new vice president and operations manager at First State Insurance Agency. She has been in insurance operations for the past 28 years, managing day-to-day operations and training efforts for a large insurance agency. She holds a Certified Insurance Counselor designation from the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research.

DOMIAN HONORED BY EDWARD JONES

Timothy R. Domian, financial adviser with Edward Jones in Cape Girardeau, won the firm's Ted Jones Entrepreneurial Award for his achievement in building client relationships. He also received the "TNT" Client Development Award for his service efforts over the past year. Domian was one of only 738 of the firm's more than 12,000 financial advisers to receive the "TNT" Client Development Award.

WELKER COMPLETES INSURANCE COURSE

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Beverly Welker of Marble Hill, a financial representative with Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial, completed Kaplan Financial's Basic I for the Insurance Professional Course. The course outlines the broad parameters of a life insurance agent's ethical responsibilities and details an agent's responsibilities to insurers, policy owners and the public. Welker started with Modern Woodmen in May 2012.

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Scott Sattler, executive director of the Perry County Economic Development Authority, was elected director for district 7 of the Missouri Economic Development Council. As director for the coming year, Sattler will represent district 7 on the statewide board. He will lend his expertise in business and economic growth to community leaders around the state.
