Todd Jansen of Jackson was employee of the month for June at Nordenia USA Inc. He has been with the company since May 2000. AIDE ELECTED ACADEMY OF SCIENCE PRESIDENT
Dr. Michael Aide, chair of the Department of Agriculture at Southeast Missouri State University, was elected president of the Missouri Academy of Science. In this role, Aide is responsible for promoting and directing the academy's annual meeting, sponsoring its peer-reviewed journal, "Transactions of the Missouri Academy Science," and managing budget, sponsorships and memberships. Previously, Aide was nominated by the executive committee as vice president and then president-elect.
CROCKER JOINS MINERAL AREA COLLEGE
PARK HILLS, Mo. -- Michele R. Crocker joined Mineral Area College as a receptionist/customer service representative. She has more than 20 years of experience in primary reception and customer service and previously worked at the Farmington Sports and Rehabilitation Center for nine years.
KINNISON RETIRES FOR UNIVERSITY POSITION
After more than three decades with the Cape Girardeau Police Department, the last seven as chief, Carl Kinnison left his post Aug. 1 for a full-time position with Southeast Missouri State University. Kinnison submitted his resignation to city manager Scott Meyer on July 2. He will now serve as director of the Law Enforcement Academy at Southeast, according to a university news release. He will also teach classes as a faculty member in the Department of Criminal Justice and Sociology. He replaces Dr. Michael Brown, who announced his retirement as director of the Law Enforcement Academy after 25 years of service to the university. Kinnison has been a part-time instructor of criminal justice courses at the university for more than 15 years and has taught a variety of classes for the SEMO Regional Law Enforcement Academy for more than 20 years. He also has taught a senior-level criminal justice management class at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.
SMITH EARNS INSURANCE RECOGNITION
FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- Chris Smith, American Family Insurance agent in Fredericktown, was recognized under the J.D. Power and Associates Distinguished Insurance Agency Program for the seventh consecutive year. The distinction was determined through an evaluation process conducted by J.D. Power and Associates, including a customer satisfaction survey.
REALTORS FORM GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
The Cape Girardeau County Board of Realtors formed a Government Affairs Committee with chairman Ken Kiefer, Realty Executives; Liz Lockhart, Riverbend Realty; Dave Soto, Soto Property Solutions; Tom M. Meyer, Exit Realty; and Rick Sinclair, Century 21 Ashland. Reviewing and making recommendations on Cape Girardeau's proposed ordinance governing rental properties is one of the committee's first orders of business, Lockhart said. It will also monitor regulations for Rural Development loans. The committee is considering whether to recommend an endorsement of a candidate for Cape Girardeau County assessor.
BROWN APPOINTED TO NEW POST AT THREE RIVERS
POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Dr. Mary Lou Brown was appointed to the new position of dean of academic instruction at Three Rivers College. She has worked at the college for 24 years, most recently as division chair for business, math, education, science and technology. In her new role, she will oversee administration of all academic curriculum at Three Rivers.
TOTTY HIRED AS VP OF STUDENT SUCCESS
POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Three Rivers College hired Dr. Angela Totty as vice president of student success, effective Aug. 1. She will be responsible for student success and retention, as well as oversight of the Bess Student and Activity Center, financial aid, admission, recruitment, athletics, student housing, campus activities and more. She previously served as director of student services and student life at Arkansas State University at Beebe, Ark.
MALDEN CHAMBER PRESENTS AWARDS
MALDEN, Mo. -- The Malden Chamber of Commerce presented awards at its annual banquet June 28, the Delta News Citizen reported. Awards went to Malden Speedway, Business of the Year, and Dr. William Morehead, Lions Club Citizen of the Year.

Ryan Hawkins of Bonne Terre, Mo., joined Big River Broadband as a retail sales executive. He previously worked as a business specialist and inventory control specialist at Apple Inc. in the St. Louis Apple Store.
WORLEY, EDMONDS RECEIVE EXCELLENCE AWARD
DEXTER, Mo. -- Ben Worley and Becky Edmonds of the Edward Jones financial services firm in Dexter received the Client Service Excellence Award for being the No. 1 client service provider in their region. The honor was based on results of a survey in which random clients were asked to rank the service they received from the teams of their local Edward Jones branch offices.
MARSHALL EARNS USE OF 12TH CAREER CAR
Nancy Marshall of Cape Girardeau earned the use of the exclusive Mary Kay pink Cadillac in honor of her business achievements. She will take delivery of her 12th Mary Kay career car in October. Marshall began her Mary Kay business as an independent beauty consultant in 1991 and became an independent sales director in 1992.
HAGGARD NAMED DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH CENTER
PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. -- Trent Haggard is the new director of the T.E. "Jake" Fisher Delta Research Center, effective July 16. A native of Pemiscot County, he spent the past 18 years working with Case New Holland Global, most recently as U.S. sales and marketing manager for cotton harvesting.

Danny McMillan, mobile electronics installation professional at Stereo One in Cape Girardeau, was named to Mobile Electronics magazine's Top 100 Installers list for 2011-12. The list is compiled each year from nominations by factory and independent sales and customer service representatives from the mobile electronics industry. DOWNING ELECTED TREASURER
EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Scott Downing, school superintendent in East Prairie, was elected treasurer of the Missouri Association of School Administrators for 2012-13. He will serve as state officer for five years, obtaining the president's position in year four of the five-year term.
HARDY HIRED AS HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
MALDEN, Mo. -- Jeri Hardy was hired as principal at Malden High School, the Daily Dunklin Democrat reported. She previously worked in the Senath-Hornersville School District since 2002, most recently as assistant elementary principal. She is also pursuing a doctorate from the University of Missouri.
HOGAN RETIRES AFTER 18 YEARS AS HEAD COACH
Mark Hogan is retiring after 18 seasons as baseball coach at Southeast Missouri State University. Hogan compiled a 526-456-1 (.536) record with one Ohio Valley Conference regular-season title (2002), two OVC Tournament crowns (1998, 2002) and the program's only two NCAA Tournament appearances (1998, 2002). Steve Bieser was named interim head coach, effective immediately, and a national search will be conducted at the end of the 2013 campaign. At that time, Bieser will have an opportunity to be a candidate for the permanent head coaching position. Bieser spent the last two seasons as the Redhawks pitching coach. He graduated from Southeast in 1989 and went on to play professionally with the New York Mets and Pittsburgh Pirates.
PENN NAMED CHAIR OF UNITED WAY BOARD
The United Way of Southeast Missouri recently announced the appointment of Stan Penn as chairman of the board of directors. He replaced Jean Mason, SEMO Division manager of Ameren Missouri, who served her maximum term of nine years on the board. Penn has been on the board for five years and has also served as treasurer of the board, campaign chairman and chairman of the finance committee. He is region president of Southeast Missouri for US Bank.
FARMER GETS WOMAN OF ACHIEVEMENT HONOR
Promotional Products Association International, the not-for-profit association for more than 10,600 members of the promotional products industry, recognized Mary Ann Farmer as 2012 Woman of Achievement during its Women's Leadership Conference in Indianapolis. Farmer, retired president and CEO of Magna-Tel Inc. in Cape Girardeau, received a custom award in honor of her long-standing industry contributions. The PPAI Woman of Achievement Award recognizes an individual who has led the way in the advancement of woman in the industry, exhibited outstanding leadership and made significant contributions to the industry and her community.

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Lisa Reynolds of Poplar Bluff and Wayne Ogden of Ellsinore, Mo., financial representatives with Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial, completed Kaplan Financial's Basic I for the Insurance Professional Course. Reynolds started with the company in April and Ogden began in May.
