Paul Combs of Kennett, Mo., a member of the 2001 Rice Leadership Class, attended a recent weeklong class session, which visited rice production and marketing workshops in Arkansas. The six-member class also visited the John Deer corporate offices in Moline, Ill., and the Chicago Board of Trade.

The classes will meet again in September 2002 in California to examine rice issues in that state. The final session will be held in February 2003 at Washington, D.C.

Members of the class are Combs; Monty Bahanan, Stuttgart, Ark.; Danny Gertson, East Bernard, Texas; Dane Hebert of Maurice, La.; Bert Manuel of Yuba City, Calif.; Kyle Sonnier of Kinder, La., and Vic Boyd of Modesto, Calif.
