PERRYVILLE -- TG (U.S.A.) Corporation of Perryville has made its annual donations to Perryville.

Eight organizations received $5,000 each from TG (U.S.A.) in appreciation for the support the community has given the company during its seven years here.

Organizations received their checks from TG President Kunihiko Nakashima and Executive Vice President Akihide Okamura during a special meeting recently. The groups were Perry County Memorial Hospital, Perry County Sheriff's Department, Perryville Police Department, Perry County School District, St. Vincent's School District, Immanuel Lutheran School, Perryville Fire Department and Riverside Regional Library.

"We want to show how much we appreciate the support we have been given by this community," said Nakashima. "We want to give something back because we have been successful with the help of Perryville."

TG (U.S.A) produces high-quality plastic interior, exterior, functional and safety parts for the automotive industry. Customers include Toyota, Saturn, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Yamaha, Ford, General Motors, Chrysler, TMM, TMMC, Morton International and NUMMI.

PADUCAH, Ky. - Paducah's population will more than double for four days this month.

The city's 1990 census report shows 27,250 people. An additional 30,000 people from 49 states and 10 foreign countries are expected here for the annual American Quilter's Society Quilt Show and Contest April 21-23.

The quilting society, a national organization, has more than 70,000 members. A preliminary survey indicates that more than 30,000 of them will be attending this year's show.

Motels and hotels are booked in the area, with visitors spilling into surrounding counties and states over a 50-mile radius.

During the 1993 show, several quilt fans "overnighted" in Cape Girardeau. One group of about 30 women from Japan who rented a waterfowl hunting club in western Kentucky has reserved the club for 1994.

CARBONDALE, Ill., -- "Info, Fun & Fashion '94," a conference for women in the workplace, will be held at Southern Illinois University's Student Center April 27.

Workshop sessions, presented by P.D. Ash Consulting Associates, will include topics ranging from stress and health risks to parenting and computer software.

Auto and truck sales were up in March.

Chrysler, the number 3 U.S. automaker, had all-time monthly sales of 230,386 cars and trucks, up 22.6 percent over the same month a year ago.

General Motor's domestic car and light-truck sales were up 16.4 percent from a year ago, to 482,672 units in March 1994.

Number 2 Ford sold a total of 348,550 cars and light trucks in March, up 13.5 percent from March of 1993.

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- A $14 million construction and an expansion project at Carbondale's Memorial Hospital is expected to be completed this year.

The project will include a $2 million fixed-site magnetic Resonance Imaging Scanner, a new 60,000-square-foot, five-story office building, and a 20,000-square-foot expansion to the existing hospital building.

Hospital officials say the project will result in 60 new jobs at the hospital.

During the expansion project, which will start next week, the main entrance of the hospital will be closed. Patrons will use the staff entrance west of the emergency room.
