Cottage Quilt opens Friday in Jackson

The Jackson Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a ribbon cutting at 11:15 a.m. Friday for the Cottage Quilt Shop at 113 W. Main St.

Area businesses need to update fire data

The Cape Girardeau Fire Department is asking businesses with fire alarms to provide regular updates on contact information. Many businesses are not keeping the information up-to-date, the department reported to the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce. The department is also asking businesses to participate in the Knox Box program, where a secure box is placed on the outside of the building that can only be opened by firefighters investigating an alarm.
