Kern welcomed to Mercy Southeast gastroenterology team
Dr. Cody Kern joins Mercy Southeast's gastroenterology team, bringing expertise in digestive system disorders to the community. He began seeing patients on Aug. 12 at Mercy Clinic Gastroenterology – Broadway.
Dr. Cody Kern has joined Mercy Southeast as the newest member of its gastroenterology team. Kern began seeing patients at Mercy Clinic Gastroenterology-Broadway on Monday, Aug. 12. He works to prevent, diagnose and treat digestive system disorders.
“I’m looking forward to serving the community I’ve always considered my home,” Kern said in a news release. “I’m excited to join such a strong group of physicians and advanced practice providers, who are already providing great gastroenterology care to Southeast Missouri.”
Kern had first become interested in gastroenterology shadowing Brent Keller, one of his partners at the new clinic. He graduated from William Woods University in Fulton and received a medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine. Kern completed his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Kentucky.

A Scott County native, Kern said he and his family always intended on moving back to Southeast Missouri for work.
