__CAPE MEDICAL GROUP JOINS CAPE PRIMARY CARE__
Cape Medical Group physicians Dr. Philip E. Tippen and Dr. Sandra Zakroff joined Cape Primary Care -- another Saint Francis Medical Partner at 1702 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau -- and began seeing patients on July 6, according to a news release from Saint Francis.
__SOUTHEAST MARKETING DEPARTMENT RECEIVES AWARDS__
The SoutheastHEALTH marketing department received statewide recognition for three publication and marketing projects at the recent Show-Me Excellence Awards, according to a news release from Southeast. The marketing team won first-place awards for its Healthier Look magazine in the External Publications category and, in the Writing category, for the "6,478 Baby Caps and Counting" article in the winter issue of Healthier Look magazine. The team won third place for its promotion of the SoutheastHEALTH Auxiliary Festival of Holiday Trees in the Special Marketing or Public Relations Projects category. The Missouri Association for Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing presented the awards at its annual meeting in June at Osage Beach, Missouri.
__SAINT FRANCIS ADDS NEW EXECUTIVE__
The Saint Francis Healthcare System in early July announced the addition of an executive vice president for its leadership team and the hiring of an Illinois Catholic hospital's CEO. Maryann Reese, CEO of St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, Illinois, since 2011, soon will become Saint Francis' executive vice president and chief operating officer -- a role new to the health system's management structure. Reese will lead development of programs and services that strengthen patient-care services and quality throughout the health-care system, a news release from Saint Francis stated. In the past, Reese has served in various leadership roles at the country's largest for-profit health system, the Hospital Corporation of America. She has an associate of science degree in nursing; bachelor's and master's degrees in health-care administration and a doctorate in health-care administration/management.
__BISKUP JOINS SOUTHEAST HOSPITAL__
Dr. Jeffrey A. Biskup joined the medical staff at Southeast Hospital. He is affiliated with Southeast Anesthesiology, according to a news release.
__BROADWAY PRESCRIPTION ADDS LONG-TERM CARE LIAISON__
Teresa Compton was hired as long-term care liaison at Broadway Prescription Shop in Cape Girardeau. She will work to maintain relationships with long-term care and assisted living facilities served by the pharmacy, as well as promote new relationships, according to a news release. Compton previously served as executive director at Frederick Street Manor and Maple Crest Manor in Cape Girardeau. She's also held administrator, social worker and marketing positions within the industry.
__WHITE NAMED STAR SERVICE TEAM MEMBER__
PARK HILLS, Mo. -- Audrey White was Star Service Team Member for June at Parkland Health Center. She is an emergency department nurse and a sexual abuse nurse examiner at Parkland Health Center-Liberty Street. She has been an emergency department nurse for nine years and has worked at Parkland for nearly four years.
__SURGEON JOINS CAPE TRAUMA SPECIALISTS__
Saint Francis Medical Center added Dr. Joseph M. McClain as a new medical partner and trauma surgeon at Cape Trauma Specialists. McClain, who is board certified in general and thoracic surgery, joins trauma surgeons Dr. Michael P. Heid and Dr. Richard H. Roettger at the Emergency and Trauma Center. McClain currently is completing his surgical critical care/trauma fellowship at Maricopa County Medical Center/Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. He has served as director of cardiothoracic surgery and cardiovascular surgery for a number of institutes and medical centers.
__SOUTHEAST RANKED AS HIGH-PERFORMING HOSPITAL__
Southeast Hospital ranks among the nation's "high performing" hospitals as rated by U.S. News & World Report, according to a news release from SoutheastHEALTH. Southeast ranked high in treatment of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or COPD in this year's study, which evaluated hospitals regarding five procedures and medical conditions. Southeast was the only hospital in Southeast Missouri to receive a "high performing" rating. The hospital was credited with success in preventing unplanned returns of COPD patients to the hospital for causes related to COPD within 30 days of discharge, the news release stated. U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals across the nation. Only about 10 percent of hospitals were rated as high performers.
__RALLS JOINS SAINT FRANCIS AS HOSPITALIST__
Dr. Andrew Ralls joined Saint Francis Medical Center as a medical partner and hospitalist. He joins 13 other hospitalists who provide care to hospitalized patients. He is a native of Cape Girardeau and a Southeast Missouri State University graduate, according to a news release from Saint Francis. Ralls earned a medical degree from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine-Virginia Campus, and his clinical interests include critical-care medicine and cardiovascular care.

BERNIE, Mo. -- Dr. Mack Taylor joined SEMO Health Network at its Bernie Dental Center.
__MIDWEST BELTONE HAS NEW LOCATION, PRACTITIONER__
SIKESTON, Mo. -- Chris Richmond took over as hearing care practitioner at Midwest Beltone Hearing Aid Center in Sikeston. The clinic also relocated to 212 S. Main St., by CVS Pharmacy.
__AUDIOLOGY PRACTICE MOVES__
Audiology Associates of Missouri opened in a new office Aug. 3 at 3117 Blattner Drive in Cape Girardeau. The practice, which specializes in diagnosis and treatment of inner-ear disorders and hearing loss and operates a hearing-aid center, is led by Sarah Hickey, doctor of audiology. The office formerly was on Independence Street. Operations manager Darin Hickey said the new office will give the practice more space and a better facility. A ribbon cutting and open house will be held Aug. 20.

__KAPP JOINS SERENITY HOSPICECARE__
PARK HILLS, Mo. -- Dr. David F. Kapp joined Serenity HospiceCare as assistant medical director. A graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City Medical School and the University of Illinois-Rockford Family Medicine Residency program, Kapp is a board-certified family medicine physician and a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He also is president and founding owner of Perryville Family Care Clinic and an active staff member of Perry County Memorial Hospital.
