Marilyn Corse has been named the new Perry County representative on the Workforce Investment Board of Southeast Missouri. She will replace Gary Wengert, who has resigned from the board.

Corse is the human resources manager for Solar Communications of Perryville, Mo., and has been with that firm for 13 years. Corse was recommended by the Perryville Area Chamber of Commerce and was appointed by the Perry County Commission on May 6.

Local auctioneer elected leader of state association

Bobby Barks, owner of Barks Auction Service, LLC, of Jackson, Mo., was elected president of the Missouri Professional Auctioneers Association at its spring convention.

For the past 13 years, Barks and his wife have owned and operated the auction facility between Jackson and Cape Girardeau.

Barks has been active in the MPAA serving in the offices of director, vice-president and president-elect. Barks is also active in the national organization.

Orthopedic surgeon joins area medical group

Patrick R. Knight, M.D., an orthopedic surgeon, has joined the medical staff of Orthopedic Associates of Southeast Missouri, P.C.

Knight is a graduate of the University of Alabama Medical School and completed his residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He has been in orthopedic clinical and surgical practice for the past two years in Alabama.

Orthopedic Associates has a medical staff of nine orthopedic surgeons, a psychiatrist specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation, a physician assistant, a nurse practitioner, and certified hand and upper extremity therapists.

Jernigan joins McClanahan Real Estate

Jeff Jernigan has joined McClanahan Real Estate Co. Although new to the real estate business, Jernigan is no stranger to sales, with over 20 years experience in printing and office product sales and management.

At McClanahan, Jernigan will handle both real estate sales and property management.

A.G. Edwards hires financial consultant

Jackie Majoros has joined the Cape Girardeau office of A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc. as a financial consultant. Prior to that job, Majoros was a registered client associate with Merrill Lynch in Cape Girardeau for six years.

A graduate of Wallace State Community College, Majoros is a member of the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce, American Diabetes Association, St. Vincent de Paul Parish and Alma Schrader PTA.

A.G. Edwards has been serving area investors for 16 years and now has 10 financial consultants on staff. The office is located at North Kingshighway and Independence.

Jimmy Keller joins Capaha Bank board

Jimmy Keller has been chosen as a new member for the Capaha Bank Board of Directors in Cape Girardeau.

Keller has more than 21 years of experience at Kel-Tech Management Co. in Anna, Ill. As president and CEO of the company, he oversees the accounting, staff training and maintenance for numerous residential and day programs serving people with developmental disabilities.

Keller graduated from Southern Illinois University with a bachelor's degrees in biological sciences and physiology.

Molly Farnum joins Socket Internet

Molly Farnum has joined Socket Internet, LLC, which is based in Columbia, Mo., but has offices in Cape Girardeau. Farnum joined the company as the corporate marketing representative in the marketing department and will include making trips to Cape Girardeau.

Farnum is a 2000 graduate of William Woods University in Fulton.

As the corporate marketing representative, Farnum will handle events such as trade shows, expos, festivals, chamber of commerce events and more.
