PERRYVILLE -- Work has begun on the Dialysis Center at the intersection of Kingshighway and Main Street. Concrete has been poured and construction of the building shell is under way.
"I am happy to see the construction begin," said Dr. I.J. Singh, medical director of the Dialysis Center. "I can see there is a great need for a dialysis center here to save much travel time for patients now traveling to Festus or Cape Girardeau."
The project is scheduled to take about five months to complete.
"We are hoping the weather will cooperate with us to enable us to finish the project sooner than anticipated," said Ralph Paulding, president/CEO of Perry County Memorial Hospital.
The new dialysis center is a joint venture between the hospital and Fresenius Medical Corp., an international company providing dialysis services to more than 80 countries. The company has more than 1,400 dialysis centers worldwide.
More than 25 percent of all dialysis patients in North America receive their treatments at a clinic managed by Fresenius Medical Corp., according to company officials.
