Community anticipates Saint Francis Fitness Plus

The anticipation of the opening of Saint Francis Fitness Plus is felt within the medical center and throughout the community as the Health and Wellness Center takes shape on the Saint Francis campus.

Evident by the success of the Fitness Plus membership presale, the Cape Girardeau area is ready for this state-of-the-art, medically integrated facility to guide its members to a healthier, more active lifestyle.

Fitness Plus will offer an aquatic program unlike any in the area. With certified aquatics instructors to lead group exercise classes and offer guidance, Fitness Plus members can experience the benefit of low impact cardiovascular exercise.

"We are excited to add aquatics and recreation coordinator Doug Gannon to our expert staff at the new Health and Wellness Center," said Fitness Plus operations manager Sandy Duncan, MSA, HFI. "Gannon has worked with the city of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation aquatics department for more than 10 years. He will be a great asset to the team."

The Fitness Plus aquatics program offers activities for any fitness level, novice to expert. Featuring a four-lane, 25-yard lap pool, warm-water therapy pool and a recreation pool, Fitness Plus brings a new level of fitness to the community.

Other facility amenities include an indoor track (eight laps/mile), group exercise studios, spacious locker rooms with sauna and steam rooms, massage therapy, multipurpose room for basketball and volleyball, Kids Plus, Deli Plus, exercise area with cardio theater, resistance training and free weights.

With physician involvement from the start, Fitness Plus is a true medically integrated facility. The physician-directed Medical Advisory Group assures our members have ample room for exercise, proper instruction, access to highly trained staff and state-of-the-art equipment.
