Cape Girardeau County prosecutor Mark Welker has been reelected to the Missouri Bar Board of Governors, representing District 7 for a two-year term. The board oversees over 30,000 lawyers statewide.

Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Welker was reelected to the Board of Governors of the Missouri Bar, a 45-member board representing the more than 30,000 practicing lawyers across the state.

Welker was reelected to a two-year term serving District 7, which covers 16 counties in Southeast Missouri. Lawyers reelected 14 other board members and elected four new ones, all to two-year terms, on Thursday, Aug. 15.

Newly elected and returning board members will take office following the 2024 annual meeting of the Missouri Bar, scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 18, through Friday, Sept. 20, in St. Louis.
