GASTROENTEROLOGY OFFICE SWITCHES LOCATIONS

Cape Gastroenterology Specialists moved to the Center for Digestive Diseases at 28 S. Mount Auburn Road as of Feb. 4. The move ensures that patients will receive comprehensive digestive care from skilled specialists, all under one roof at Saint Francis Medical Center.

PERRY OAKS HONORS EMPLOYEES

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Perry Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center honored employees at its annual Christmas party Dec. 14. Those recognized for their years of service were Patty Heldebrandt, five years, Pamela Schmidt, 10 years, George Reed, 10 years, and Debby Thomas, 25 years. Amanda Cross was employee of the year for 2012.

NOBLE RETIRES, PENNINGTON CHOSEN AS NEW CEO

HAYTI, Mo. -- Kerry Noble, CEO of Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems, will retire April 17 after 10 years of service, the Democrat Argus reported. Jack Pennington, chief operating officer, was chosen to assume the responsibilities of Noble's position, effective April 17. Noble will continue on a part-time basis as chief financial officer and will report directly to the board of trustees.

Dr. Andrew C. Trueblood of Advanced Orthopedic Specialists in Cape Girardeau earned a subspecialty certificate in surgery of the hand from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Trueblood specializes in treatment of conditions that affect the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder, such as carpal tunnel syndrome and trigger finger.

HEARING SPECIALIST RECOGNIZED

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Katie Isgriggs was recognized in the December issue of The Hearing Review as one of the best hearing health care professionals in the nation for 2012. The determination was made by some of the industry's top hearing health care professionals chosen on a panel by The Hearing Review. Isgriggs is a Missouri state licensed hearing instrument specialist employed by Miracle-Ear Center in Perryville.

PRIVATE NURSING OPENS IN PATTON

PATTON, Mo. -- Private Nursing Service Inc. opened its third office on Highway 72, north of the Highway 51/Highway 72 junction in Patton. The family-owned business, managed by Tyler Fadler, offers home and community-based services through Medicaid, home-care for veterans and private duty nursing. It has additional offices in St. Louis and Farmington, Mo., and serves 11 counties. The Patton office will serve Bollinger, Perry and Cape Girardeau counties.

KENNETT, Mo. -- The Kennett Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting Feb. 22 for Kennett Surgery Associates, which moved to a new location at 509 S. Bypass in Kennett.

HICKEY PURCHASES AUDIOLOGY ASSOCIATES

Dr. Sarah Hickey purchased Audiology Associates in October from Dr. Linda Hurt, who started the practice in 1997. Hickey has been an audiologist for more than 10 years. Her primary office is at 2917 Independence St., Suite 200, and she also sees patients one day per week at 225 Physician's Park Drive in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

LOWE EARNS TOP HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT TITLE

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Lavah Lowe, chief operating officer of Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, became a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the nation's leading professional society for health care leaders. To obtain FACHE status, candidates must fulfill multiple requirements, including passing a comprehensive exam, meeting academic and experiential criteria, continuing education credits and demonstrating professional and community involvement. Fellows are also committed to ongoing professional development and must undergo recertification every three years.

SAINT FRANCIS ADDS TWO TO EXECUTIVE TEAM

Saint Francis Healthcare System added two members to its executive team. Teri Kreitzer, director of human resources, and Diane Smith, chief information officer, joined Steven C. Bjelich, president and CEO; vice presidents Tony Balsano, Marilyn Curtis, Jeannie Fadler, Dr. James Schell and Barbara W. Thompson; and Rick Essner, director of environmental engineering, on the medical center's leadership team. Smith joined Saint Francis in October 1973 and Kreitzer began in July 1990. The executive team meets weekly to implement the strategic operations of the health care system. The team also meets monthly at an off-site, daylong meeting to examine and discuss long-term issues.

P.B. HOSPITAL ADDS STARBUCKS, VALET SERVICE

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center added a Starbucks coffee shop and complimentary valet service at its new hospital campus, which opened in January. All hospital services at the new Oak Gove campus are accessible from the main entrance, where the valet service is available. The Starbucks coffee shop is just inside the main entrance, offering a large selection of Starbucks' line of brewed coffees, espresso beverages, frappuccinos and teas. The shop is operated by Morrison, the hospital's food and nutrition services provider.

PENNEY ATTENDS OPTOMETRY CONFERENCE

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Dr. Michael R. Penney, an optometrist in Poplar Bluff, attended the Heart of America Contact Lens and Primary Care Conference in Kansas City, Mo. The educational conference covered new and advanced techniques for all types of contact lenses available today, plus the latest information on medial treatment of eye diseases.

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- The Greater Poplar Bluff Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Sunrise Home Care, 4061 Route PP, Suite 3. The new business provides skilled nursing, physical, occupational and speech therapies, social work and home aide services. Michael Zgaynor is the owner.
