Ray Wilkins has been named president and chief executive officer for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co.
Wilkins, a native of Waco, Texas, will oversee the company's more than 16 million access lines, providing services to more than 14 million customers in Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas.
Most recently, Wilkins served as president of Pacific Bell business communications services.
He replaces John Atterbury, who has been named president and chief executive officer of SBC Broadband Services.
