Carol Despain of the McDonald's Restaurant at 3419 William in Cape Girardeau has received a bachelor's degree of hamburgerology from McDonald's Hamburger University (H.U.) at Oak Brook, Ill.

McDonald's managers are trained in all aspects of general business management, including customer service, equipment fundamentals, accounting and marketing.

McDonald's H.U. was founded in 1961. More than 60,000 students have graduated from H.U.

To attend the school, students must first complete McDonald's management development program, which includes classroom instruction and more than two years of restaurant training. The program is approved for 32 hours of college credit by the American Council on Education and may be applied toward an associate or baccalaureate college degree.
