Fred R. "Rocky" Wilferth, Charles L. Hutson, James A. Rust, R. J. McKinney and John Oliver Jr. were elected to the greater Cape Girardeau Development Corporation Board of Directors for three-year terms during the annual shareholders meeting last month.
Directors remaining on the board include Virgil Chirnside, J. Ronald Fischer, David Hahs, Stanley Grimm, Robert B. Hendrix, Harry Rediger, Gary Rust, Clarence Lee Shirrell, Al Spradling III and Judy Wilferth.
Dr. Raymond A. Ritter Jr, Dr. Gordon W. Eller and Dr. William P. Thorpe, associates of Orthopaedic Associates of Southeast Missouri, P.C., recently attended a continuing education course.
Topics at the three-day program sponsored by Education Design included controversies and solutions in total knee replacement, hip replacement and management of complex fractures. The physicians received 13 credit-hours in Category I of the Physicians Recognition Award at the American Medical Association.
This marked the 10th annual update course, designed to keep orthopedic surgeons up-to-date on the latest developments in the field of orthopedic surgery.
Dr. David O. Catron has been named president of the Southeast Missouri Hospital Medical Staff for 1996.
Other officers include Dr. Randall L. Stahly, president-elect, and Dr. Paul D. Thompson, secretary.
Catron practices family medicine with Regional Primary Care Inc. at 69 Doctors' Park. A native of Mount Vernon, Ill., he received his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine at Waco, Texas, and completed his residency at the Southern Illinois University of Medicine Affiliate Hospital in Springfield, Ill. He established his practice at Cape Girardeau in 1988.
Stahly, a neurologist, practices at 5 Doctors' Park. He received his D.O. from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at St. Louis University.
Thompson, a urologist, practices with Cape Urology Associates Inc., 3 Doctors' Park. He received his medical degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Medical School. He completed two residences, in surgery at McClaren General Hospital in Flint, Mich., and in urology at the University of Louisville.
The following physicians have been named to the hospital's medical staff executive committee: Walter A. Schroeder, chief, surgery department; Daniel S. Duick, chief, medicine department; Scot G. Pringle, chief OB/GYN department; Gary S. Olson, chief, pediatrics department; Craig W. Williams, chief radiology department; Paul H. Cordes, chief pathology department; R. Blaine Russell, chief anesthesiology department; Roderic C. Crist, family practice department; and Michael A. Kolda, chief emergency medicine department.
Connie Holland of Cairo, Ill., has been named lead flight nurse for Air Evac III, based at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Holland has been a member of the Air Evac EMS flight crew 2 1/2 years, first as a paramedic and later as a flight nurse following her graduation from nursing school.
Air Evac EMS serves Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois, Western Kentucky and Northeast Arkansas with air ambulances services from its bases in Cape Girardeau, West Plains and Springdale, Ark.
D. L. Harrison has retired as Delta Companies Inc. chairman of the board of directors.
He was recently honored at a special retirement dinner, where he was accompanied by his wife, Shirley, and other members of the Harrison family. Also in attendance were Joe Regenhardt, president of Delta Companies, who served as master of ceremonies; Michel Roullet, president, and Dominque Leveille, vice president administration of Colas Inc., the parent company of Delta; and Bill Regenhardt and Tom Regenhardt, both former part owners of the Delta group of companies.
Friends and colleagues discussed Harrison's contribution to the group of companies that made up the Delta Companies. These include Southern Illinois Asphalt, Girardeau Contractors, Delta Asphalt, Delta Concrete, Southeast Missouri Stone and Southern Illinois Stone.
Harrison's involvement with the company dates back to the late 1940s. The consortium of the Harrison and Regenhardt families, in conjunction with other prominent construction organizations, led the companies through highway construction projects in Central America as well as construction of major portions of the U.S. interstate system.
Harrison, a graduate of Yale University, has been active in a variety of business and community activities in the Cape Girardeau area. He continues to serve as president of Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents. The university recently honored his longtime commitment to the institution by announcing that the School of Business will be known as Donald L. Harrison School of Business. Harrison will remain a member of the board for Delta.
Mary Ann Farmer has been named "West North Central Region Ambassador of the Year" for Promotional Products Association International (PPA).
Farmer was recognized during the PPA Winter Show held recently at Dallas.
The regional award is given to the PPA ambassador who logs the highest number of speeches for their region during the year. Ambassadors are members of PPA's Speakers Bureau who volunteer time to educate college students, advertising clubs, sales and marketing organizations and other professional associations about promotional products advertising.

Connie Mosier, a Cape Girardeau native and graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, has joined the Overland Park office of Bernard Haldane Associates as an executive career consultant.
Mosier has 23 years experience in retail and industrial sales and personnel management in the apparel, building supplies and interior design industries.
Haldane Associates has 59 offices throughout the United States and Canada and provides career marketing and counseling for professionals and business executives.
Randal Friend, community development manager with the Rural Economic and Community Development office at Jackson, recently met with William T. Shay, Missouri RECD state director and other RECD officials to discuss the organization's role in assisting communities in rural development.
Also attending the RECD personnel training session were Becky Eftink and Donna Martin, community development technicians from the Jackson office.
RECD (formerly Farmers Home Administration) assists in creating jobs and providing housing and other services in rural areas. Statewide, RECD is assisting 40,000 clients with housing, water and waste facilities.
