Philip Dame has joined Robert Thomas Securities Inc.

He will be a branch manager for the company, at 1320 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau.

Karen Eaker-Payne of Chaffee is the new manager at Mail Boxes Etc. in Cape Girardeau.

She succeeds Mary Prince of Jackson, who has been promoted to business manager for Mail Boxes Etc. centers in Cape Girardeau and Sikeston.

John Chanley of Cape Girardeau is assistant manager at the store at 209 S. Broadview.

Mail Boxes Etc. opened in Cape Girardeau seven years ago; the Sikeston center, at 941 E. Malone, opened last year.

Gloria Huber-Smith has joined ERA Cape Realty, 1409-A N. Auburn Road, as a sales associate.

David S. Glastetter, member/broker of the Cape Girardeau real estate firm has announced Huber-Smith's appointment.

Huber-Smith is a native of Cape Girardeau.

Chris Lix of Millersville has been elected vice president of the Missouri Landscape Nursery Association.

Lix served as treasurer of the state group last year.

New officers were elected during the group's summer meeting and trade show, held at Springfield.

Tim Wommack of St. Louis was elected president of the group. Other officers are Roland Lenzenhuber of Jonesburg, secretary, and Paul Ronck of Ellisville, treasurer.

Shanon Kirchhoff, president of the Missouri Society of Orthodontists, recently attended the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists annual session, held at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

Various topics on techniques in medicine as related to dentistry and orthodontics were presented during the three-day conference. Also discussed were advances in genetics, snoring and cartilage regeneration.

Steve McPheeters, executive director of the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce, will leave that position Dec. 31 to return to private business. He served as executive director two years.

"We appreciate the leadership that McPheeters has provided to the Sikeston chamber," said chamber president Jerry Pullen. "The chamber has grown in membership and influence during the past two years."

A search is under way for a new executive director.

Jim Crain, pharmacist and owner of The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy, 864 N. Kingshighway, has received the 1996 Medicine Shoppe Community Service Award.

Crain earned the award for participating in a variety of health-care screening and wellness programs during the year, such as blood-pressure checks, body fitness evaluations and foot clinics. These programs educate the public about wellness issues.

Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy is part of a 1,000-store franchise system.

Sandy Quigley, a travel consultant with Gulliver's Travel Agency, recently toured Central Florida, including the Orlando area.

During a 10-day tour, she viewed new hotels and attractions at Disney World, Sea World and Universal Studios, which is expanding to double the park's size.

Included in the tour was a sneak preview of Disney's fourth and largest park -- Disney's Animal Kingdom, scheduled to open next spring.

Joyce Carter of Oran has completed training and received certification as an educaiton consultant for Educational Development Corp. based in Tulsa, Okla.

Carter will call on schools and libraries in this area for firm, which publishes a line of children's books on science, history, nature and foreign language.

A number of Mary Kay associates have received star consultant status.

Among those honored for sales performances by senior sales director Jana Jateff of Cape Girardeau were Donna Outsell, Laurie White, Karla VanGilder and Rhoda Rudloff, all of Cape Girardeau, Sherry Eftink of Oran and Sarah Lah of St. Louis.

Staff members from Riverside Regional Library at Jackson recently attended the Library Skills Institute held at Stephens College in Columbia.

Attending were Gaye Smith, Julie Sauer, Paula Gresham-Bequette, Roberta Brown, Lillian Hess and Hollie Roth.

The weeklong seminar was sponsored by the Missouri State Library, and offered basic, advanced and specialized courses to employees of Missouri's public and special libraries.
