Ken Oberlohr and Taylor Dial have joined American Family Insurance and will occupy offices at 2256 Kingsway.
Oberlohr, a Doniphan native, attended Southeast Missouri State University. He has worked for American Family in the financial services department in St. Louis for eight years.
Dial, who has lived in Cape Girardeau more than 25 years, is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. He was previously a loan officer with Boatmen's Bank.
Myrna Little is Oberlohr's office manager. Cindy Stone is Taylor's office manager. Stone and Little were previously employed by the late Ken Voepel, who operated the office at 2256 Kingsway.
Amie Runnels of Jackson has joined Mane Attractions Styling Salon, 431 W. Main at Jackson.
Runnels, a graduate of Stage One The Hair School at Cape Girardeau, offers hair services -- cuts, perms, color -- and manicures and pedicures.
Judy Vickery, service director of Material Management at St. Francis Medical Center, received the leadership award during the medical center's sixth annual Employee Recognition Awards Banquet, held recently at the Holiday Inn Convention Center.
Vickery joined St. Francis in 1974. She has been service director since 1985.
The top service award was presented to Betty Hosea, who recently retired after 40 years of service. Jan Eichhorn and Amy Ward, were recognized for 30 years of service, and Nellie Emmons and Fred Welter were honored for 25 years.
Some 209 employees were recognized for reaching service milestones of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 40 years of service. Presenting awards were St. Francis Medical Center President and CEO Jim Sexton and the center's board of directors.

Chris Collier II has been named "Employee of the Year" at the Cottonwood Residential Treatment Center on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University.
The award is presented by the center's Employee Relations Committee. Collier, who joined the center in 1993 and was promoted to Psyche Aide II last year, was selected for the honor by his peers.
Cottonwood is a residential facility that provides psychiatric treatment services to children and adolescents who have emotional and behavioral problems.
Nicole Schabbing of Jackson is completing her occupational therapy field work at Orthopaedic Associates' Hand Center in Cape Girardeau.
Shabbing graduated from St. Louis University in May where she was a member of the St. Louis Student Occupational Therapy Association and Alpha Sigma Nu Jesuit National Honor Society.
On completion of her field work, Schabbing will work as an occupational therapist at a county hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Hansel Andrews of Millersville, a delivery driver for United Parcel Services, headquartered at Earth City, has been honored for 20 years of service.
Andrews works out of the UPS facility at Cape Girardeau.
Dr. William P. Thorpe of Orthopaedic Associations of Southeast Missouri, has received the Physicians Recognition Award for Continuing Medical Education presented by the American Medical Association. The award, presented by the Missouri State Medical Association and the AMA, is given to physicians who voluntarily complete 60 credit-hours of continuing education courses over a three-year period.
The purpose of the award is to recognize physicians who keep up on their medical specialties and add to their knowledge.
Thorpe has also been active in medical research and publications. He has held teaching positions at Southeast Missouri State University and Southern Illinois University. He is one of nine physicians on the staff at Orthopaedic Associates.
Bob Etherton of Cape Girardeau, an investment representative for the Edward Jones financial services company, recently attended a meeting with state legislators at Jefferson City.
Etherton was one of more than 60 Edward Jones representatives at the two-day meeting.
Keynote speakers during the session included Lt. Gov. Roger Wilson, House Speaker Steve Gaw, D-Moberly, Sen. Steve Ehlman, R-St. Charles, Rep. Todd Akin, R-St. Louis, and Mary Hosmer, chief of enforcement and licensing for the Missouri Securities Division.
During the meeting, Etherton, whose office is at 215 N. Sprigg in Cape Girardeau, and other Jones representatives voiced concerns over Bill 869, a new securities bill that affects investors.
Jones representatives meet annually with state lawmakers to discuss grass-roots issues.
Laurie Hill, a staff member at Southeast Missouri Hospital's Generations Family Resource Center, has completed a three-day workshop in Columbia on clinical breast-feeding assistance.
Hill received certification as a breast-feeding educator at the workshop, co-sponsored by the Missouri Department of Health and the University of Missouri-Columbia Sinclair School of Nursing Continuing Educaiton,
The Generations Centers at Southeast offers a number of services for the community, including lactation consultation. The hospital's prenatal care program also operates through Generations.
