Jan Keith of Jackson has been selected "Woman of the Year" by the Jacksonian Chapter of the American Business Women's Association.

Keith, who works at Alliance Water System in Cape Girardeau, is incoming president for 1998.

Anita Hillin and Peggy Gates have received promotions at Manpower Employment Services, 2909 Beaver Creek Drive.

Hillin, who has been with Manpower for three years, has been named branch manger of the Cape Girardeau office and will supervise operations at the Perryville satellite office.

Gates, who started at Manpower last year, has been promoted to district manager. Her district includes the area from Perryville south to the Arkansas state line and the offices at Cape Girardeau, Perryville and Sikeston.

Manpower is a provider of temporary employees, probationary employees and offers customized computerized training.

Bob Smith of Cape Girardeau has been named occupational medicine coordinator at Immediate Health Care, 1702 N. Kingshighway.

Smith has more than five years experience in the business. As coordinator he will work with area companies in occupational services and workman's compensation.

Tim Singleton has received the "Master of Real Estate" certification from the Missouri Association of Realtors.

Singleton, who has more than 10 years of real estate experience and is broker/owner of Re/Max United Realty, 2911 Bloomfield Road, received the award following the completion of several advance real estate education courses. He is an active member of the Cape Girardeau County Board of Realtors and is president of the MLS Service.

Cathy Chasteen of Bloomfield has become the new Employment Service Manager II for the Kennett and Caruthersville offices of the Missouri Division of Employment Security.

Chasteen has worked in state government for 22 years and has recently worked as a claims officer at the Cape Girardeau Jobs Service office.

Five new members have been elected to the Greater Cape Girardeau Development Corp.

New members on the 15-member board are J. Ronald Fischer, Gary Rust, Harry Rediger, Robert Hendricks and Jim Limbaugh.

The Greater Cape Girardeau Development Corp., which was founded by a group of business people more than 35 years ago, works to develop the Nash Road Industrial Park south of Cape Girardeau, which is home to several industrial and manufacturing concerns.

W. Tom Tipton, owner of Tipton Linen and Uniform, based in Cape Girardeau, has been named secretary/treasurer of Southwest Linen and Uniform Service Association, an organization of independent operators of linen and uniforms services and their vendors.

The organizations, founded in San Antonio in the 1930s, covers the entire United States.

Tipton Linen and Uniform has been in operation in Cape Girardeau for 49 years and under the ownership of W. Tom Tipton the past nine years, serving customers in Southern Illinois, Western Kentucky, Southeast Missouri and the St. Louis metropolitan area.

Cape Girardeau County Board of Realtors president David Donley discussed community service projects for 1997 during a recent meeting of officers, directors and committee chairmen.

The group attended a kickoff cocktail hour and meeting sponsored by Linda Ervine, association executive.

Dr. Jack Sterrett, professor in the marketing department of Southeast Missouri State University, will be guest speaker at the Professional Secretaries International meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Drury Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

Steve Carroll, vice president for Network Distribution of Fox Broadcast Co., was a guest speaker at the recent meeting of the Cape Girardeau-based Advertising and Marketing Professionals of Southeast Missouri.

Carroll of New York City discussed how Fox TV has increased its coverage of sports over the past few years.

This year, Fox had broadcasting rights to the National Football Conference games; the Super Bowl of pro football; and baseball's World Series. Fox will broadcast the Stanley Cup hockey playoff in the spring.
