Henry "Butch" Holyfield Jr. has joined Commerce Bank as an associate in the commercial and real estate loan departments.

Karlin S. Bohnert of Oak Ridge has been appointed officer of property and casualty systems architecture for Nationwide Insurance Enterprise in Columbus, Ohio.
Bohnert joined the company after seven years as strategy manager/director at Wal-Mart headquarters in Bentonville, Ark. She also previously served as vice president at Prudential Mortgage from 1987-1990.
Bohnert, a native of Cape Girardeau, served nine yeas in the U.S. Navy following graduation from Oak Ridge High School. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a degree in journalism. She lives in Westerville, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus.

Capt. Mike Rodgers of Cape Girardeau, a vessel captain for Canal Barge Company Inc., of New Orleans, has been honored for safety training and performance standards by America's maritime transportation industry.
Rodgers received the Jones F. Devlin Award, for serving as a towboat captain that has operated two years without a lost-time accident.
Rodgers received the award from the U.S. Chamber of Shipping during a special awards ceremony in New Orleans, captains the M/V Hamilton, on routes throughout the U.S. inland waterway systems.
Rodgers has been employed at Canal Barge Co. since 1971.
Ron Burgett, Park Ranger I at Trail of Tears State Park, has been recognized as an outstanding employee by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Division of State Parks.
Burgett received the division's "Masterpiece Award" for law enforcement.
Burgett was cited for arresting several suspects involved in setting up a portable methamphetamine lab, and twice last year, he stopped drugs from being brought into the park.
