Willard Cohen of Cake Girardeau has joined South East Missouri Bank as senior vice president and lending officer.

Cohen has more than 30 years of financial experience. He previously worked for Mercantile Bank in Cape Girardeau and Lebanon, Mo., as vice president of consumer and real estate lending.

Cohen is a graduate of Arkansas State University with a degree in business administration.

South East Missouri Bank also named three new assistant vice presidents -- Tina Ballance, director of marketing; Becky Andrews, real estate loans; and Shawn Schlosser, consumer loan officer.

Paula Moss of Scott City has joined Studio Design Beauty Salon, 229 S. Broadview, as a hair stylist.

Moss is a recent graduate of Stage One The Hair School in Cape Girardeau.

In addition to hair styling, Moss will do manicures and pedicures at Studio Design.

Jeanne Goodman has received the highest corporate award presented to a NationsBank associate.

Goodman received the award, based on her outstanding leadership and dedication in the workplace and in the community.

Goodman, senior vice president and regional sales and service manager, has been employed with the bank 13 years. She is responsible for consumer sales and service at NationsBank banking centers in Southeast Missouri and Central and Southern Illinois.

She is on the Chateau-Girardeau board of directors and the Southeast Missouri Hospital Foundation board. She is also active with the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce and the American Cancer Society.

Goodman received her award during a ceremony held in St. Louis.

NationsBank Corp., third largest banking company in the nation, has banking operations in 16 states, including Southeast Missouri and the District of Columbia, with total assets of about $310 billion.

John W. Chanley, assistant manager of Mail Box Etc., 209 S. Broadview, has been named "Employee of the Year."

Chanley of Cape Girardeau has worked at Mail Boxes Etc. for almost two years.

He received his award from Karen Eaker-Payne, manager of the operation.

The center, which has been in Cape Girardeau for more than seven years, offers a number of consumer service, including mailbox rental, stamps and metered mail, packaging and shipping via Post Office, UPS and Federal Express and MailCheck call-in service.

Steven Horst of Horst Pharmacy, 2705 E. Jackson Blvd., Jackson, recently attended a three-day seminar at Houston, Texas.

Horst was one of about 500 pharmacists and technicians at the seminar on meeting patient needs, sponsored by Professional Compounding Centers of America Inc.

Participants received continuing educaiton credits from the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education.

Dr. Ray Rothenberger is retiring this month.

Rothenberger has served in the University of Missouri's Department of Horticulture for 29 years and will retire effective Saturday.

Rothenberger was honored during a recent reception at the Reynolds Alumni Center at UM-Columbia.

A number of Southeast Missouri farm growers are among winners in several categories of the Missouri Corn Growers Association Corn Yield Contest. Winners are:

-- No-Till Irrigated Class: Paul Lanpher, Advance, Pioneer 3260, 240.9 bushels an acre; Phil Lanpher, Advance, Pioneer 3335, 239.24 bushels an acre; Nancy Reiminger, Chaffee, Mycogen 2801, 198.7 bushels an acre; and Nancy Reiminger, Pioneer 33A14, 188.4 bushels an acre.

-- Ridge-Till Irrigated Class: M&N Farms, Chaffee, Pioneer 3335, 211.7 bushels; Mike Reiminger, Chaffee, Mycogen 7250, 202.3 bushels; Mike Reiminger, Pioneer 3260, 200.8 bushels; Joe Lumsden, Scott City, Pioneer 3335, 187.9 bushels.

A number of Cape Girardeau Dana Corp.'s Spicer Axle Division employees recently attended a "Sharing of Best Practices" Conference Day, at Jonesboro, Ark.

The conference, based in Toledo, Ohio, was sent via satellite to some 30 Dana sites throughout the world.

Presentations were made in seven categories of the Dana Quality Leadership Award. Bill Hoffman, vice president and general manager of Spicer Axle Division, gave the presentation on strategic planning.

Attending from the Cape Girardeau facility were Dave Blanchard, plant manager; Mike Grebing, facilities engineer manager; Cliff Lafond, quality manager; Bill Large, facility engineer; Pat Hagan facilitator-training; and Larry Koehler, facilitator-trainer.
