Chris Hutson of Jackson recently joined PrimeVest Financial Service Inc. as a sales representative of the independent brokerage firm. Hutson and PrimeVest Investment will operate out of Wood & Huston Bank, 111 S. Broadview in Cape Girardeau.

Hutson is a registered general securities representative, offering stocks, bonds, mutual funds, tax-deferred annuities and other investment products.

He is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, with a bachelor's degree in finance.

Michelle French has joined Robinson Insurance, 353 Christine St., as office manager.

French's appointment was announced by Glynn Robinson, owner of the business.

French, formerly of Charleston, has more than eight years experience in management at Atlanta, Ga.

Steve McAnelly of Vanduser and Laura Dee of Jackson have joined Capaha Bank in Cape Girardeau.

McAnelly will serve as manager of technology and electronic banking, with other responsibilities in management reporting, budget preparation, profitability studies and functional cost analysis programs.

He previously worked as a cost accountant for M&W Packaging U.S. Inc. and as an accountant for Hillin and Clark, P.C. He also owned and managed Sikeston Exhaust Center in Sikeston.

McAnelly is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

Dee will serve as a loan associate in the Cape Girardeau Operations Center.

Dee, who has seven years experience in banking, will work with Capaha Bank loan officers and customers to coordinate and facilitate loan applications.

She previously worked with Boatmen's Bank, Mercantile Bank and NationsBank.

Nancy Arnold has been named director of the John J. Pershing Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Poplar Bluff.

Arnold, who has been serving as acting director since Jan. 1, has been a member of the medical center's executive management team a number of years. Prior to her Veterans Affairs service, she was director of nursing at a private hospital.

She received her nursing degree from St. Louis Jewish Hospital School of Nursing. She has a bachelor's degree in psychology from Stephen's College at Columbia, a master's degree in health service administration from Columbia Pacific University, and bachelor's degree in nursing from New York Regents.

The medical center operates community clinics in Cape Girardeau and West Plains in Missouri and in Paragould, Ark.

Dr. Shanon Kirchhoff, a Cape Girardeau dentist, recently attended a training session for Missouri's Emergency Response Identification Team held at Jefferson City.

The team is made up of 52 volunteers trained to perform forensic identification in the event of a mass disaster, such as airline disasters or bombings. The training sessions are cooperative efforts of Missouri Dental Association, Missouri Health Department's Bureau of the Dental Health and the State Emergency Management Agency.

Dental remains are the only way to identify some victims. Teeth are durable and are not normally destroyed, even in fire.

The recent training session was conducted by Dr. William Morlan, retired colonel of the Army, who has worked on forensic dentistry for decades and has taught at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology.

Art Didion of Dana Corp.'s Cape Girardeau facility, Spicer Light Vehicle Axle Division, 2075 Corporate Circle, recently received the "Certified Dana Supervisor" designation.

Didion, a plant metallurgist, completed six Dana University business courses to qualify for the award.

Courses included product cost analysis, financial planning, problem solving, decision-making, style of managing and use of supervisory skills.

The Cape Girardeau Dana facility has nine Certified Dana Supervisors.

Judy Wilferth, owner of Children's Bazaar and Sandy's, and Jerrie Gerlach, manager of Sandy's, recently attended a Brighton Seminar, held in Los Angeles where Children's Bazaar and Sandy's were recognized as Brighton "Heart" Stores.

Brighton is a leather goods company whose products the two stores have carried four years. Brighton is recognized for its handbags, belts and wallets. However, the company has launched a variety of other products -- among them jewelry, watches, shoes, sunglasses and fragrances.

Few retail establishments in the United States carry the Brighton "Heart" designation.

"We consider it an honor to be the only Brighton Heart Store in this region," said Wilferth.

National Brighton Week, held in the nation's Brighton Heart stores, starts today.

Children's Bazaar and Sandy's are in the Crossroads at 97 N. Kingshighway.

William R. Schott is celebrating 40 years as a certified public accountant today.

Schott, managing partner of Schott & Van de Ven Certified Public Accountants of Cape Girardeau, is a graduate of St. Louis University and served apprenticeships in St. Louis and Cape Girardeau before founding a firm here in 1959.

Schott and Melvin J. Van de Ven have been partners more than 30 years.

"In 40 years I have seen a lot of changes in accounting," said Schott. "I strongly believe in continuing educaiton to maintain the expertise necessary to provide the best service to our clients.

Each year, the professional staff and partners of Schott & Van de Ven attend a minimum of 40 to 100 hours of continuing education. The company has a full-time staff of 25, with satellite offices in Marble Hill and Marion, Ill.

Schott is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Missouri Society of CPAs, Chief Executive Network, Regional Commerce & Grown Association, and the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce.

Larry McCain of Jackson has been named "Salesman of the Year" at Monty's Mobile Home, 602 S. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau.

McCain has been with the company two years.

The award is based on sales and service.

CAPA meets at noon the third Wednesday of the month.

Ma-Li Imhoff has joined Wood & Huston Bank as teller supervisor.

Imhoff of Cape Girardeau has more than six years banking experience. She previously worked with NationsBank and Capaha Bank in Cape Girardeau.

She is involved in volunteer activities with St. Francis Medical Center, VIP Industries and the Show Me Center. She serves as an interpreter for Shaoxing, China, residents visiting Cape Girardeau.

Gordon Clyde Southern of Steele is one of three men named honorary members of the University of Missouri Agriculture Alumni Association.

Southern is president of Southern Farm Inc. and oversees 2,500 acres of cotton, soybeans, wheat, milo and corn in the Southeast Missouri area.
