Couple buys Sikeston, Morley cemeteries

Murphy Business of Cape Girardeau, a business brokerage firm, recently oversaw the sale and transfer of management of Sikeston Memorial Park, Sikeston Garden of Memories in Sikeston, Missouri, and Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Morley, Missouri.

The properties, according to the release, were abandoned when the Birks took them on in 2007, and they since have rebuilt preneed trust accounts to become fully funded and assured the community investments in burial services made over the years will be honored.

The Birks' stabilization of the business set it up for a sale to the Kesters, who, according to the release, were looking to buy a business that provides a service to the community.
