The purpose of the classes is to offer welfare recipients the choice between entry-level jobs with local employers that need employees, or starting a business of their own.

Representatives from Mineral Area College, Missouri Division of Employment, Missouri Division of Family Services, Southeast Missouri Private Industry Council, Missouri Small Business Development Centers, and the U.S. Small Business Administration will be present, along with some managers from small businesses in the Park Hills area.

The Division of Employment Security representatives will discuss the Welfare-to-Work tax credit and how it can be used as a tool in the transition to self-sufficiency.
