More than 300 Missouri travel industry members attended the Missouri Governor's Conference on Tourism, held recently at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City.
"Change is in the Air" was the theme of the conference, which focused on changes, challenges and opportunities for the industry as the 21st century approaches.
Plans are under way for Missouri's celebration of National Tourism Week, May 5 through 11. The special week is to emphasize travel and tourism's role as America's largest services export industry, second-largest employer and third-largest retail sales industry. Travel and tourism generate $9.9 billion a year in Missouri and $417 billion nationally, employing more than 6.3 million Americans.
