BUSINESS MEMO: SPARTECH ACQUISITION

Spartech Corp., headquartered in St. Louis, has announced it will buy the capital stock of Anjac-Doron Plastics Inc., a custom profile extruder based in El Monte, Calif.

"We're enthusiastic about the prospect of adding Anjac-Doron's West Coast manufacturing facility, with annual sales of 49 million, to Spartech's molded and profile products segment," said Bradley B. Buechler, Spartech president and chief executive officer.

The acquisition, said Buechler, will increase Spartech's profile extrusion capacity and expand the profile extrusion geographic coverage to serve customers in this segment of the plastics industry.

Plans call for the transaction to be completed by Oct. 31.

Spartech is a leading producer of engineered thermoplastic materials, polymeric compounds and molded products.

Spartech has two operations in Cape Girardeau -- Spartech Plastics at 2500 Spartech Drive and Spartech Compounding on Nash Road.
