Michelle L. Corey of Granite City, Ill., who has been with the Better Business Bureau since 1973, has been appointed manager of the St. Louis office that serves Eastern Missouri and Southern Illinois.
Corey, who has served as vice president of the office since 1984, will succeed retiring president James C. Schmitt on Jan. 1.
Corey, the first woman to serve as chief executive officer of the Bureau, worked her way through the ranks at the St. Louis office, starting as a telephone operator and moving to microfiche administrator, trade practice consultant and director of operations.
She is a certified association executive by the American Society of Association Executives, and holds an associate's degree in marketing management.
