Mississippi Lime Co., a manufacturer of crushed stone and high calcium lime at Ste. Genevieve, has been honored for creative application and quality design by the Consulting Engineers Council of Missouri for its support facilities and a vertical kiln.
The company, one of 10 honored recently, retains Burns and McDonnell to provide design services for site preparations, foundations and finished product storage for a modern kiln, 165 feet high and weighing 1,100 tons. The kiln produces about 400 tons of lime a day.
The owners' goal was to increase capacity while producing quality lime at a lower price. The completed project has met and exceeded its expectations on both counts.
Mississippi Lime is among the top 10 largest employers in the Southeast Missouri area, with more than 800 employees.
CECMO, headquartered in Jefferson City, is a state association of almost 100 consulting engineering firms, employing more than 4,600 people and designing some $14 billion in construction on public works on private industry projects.
