BUSINESS MEMO: ILLINOIS UNEMPLOYMENT DOWN

Illinois unemployment was a seasonally adjusted 5 percent in November, down from October's rate of 5.1 percent, Illinois labor officials said last week.

The unemployment rate was the lowest in 20 months, according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security. The rate compares to a 5.4 percent unemployment rate for the nation.

Labor officials said 5.86 million people were working in the state last month, compared to 5.84 million a month earlier. Still, there were 305,926 people without jobs in Illinois last month, the department said. In November 1995, the state's unemployment rate was 5.2 percent.
