The Bootheel Regional Planning and Economic Development Commission has received $22,410 from the Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) to help offset costs associated with implementing the Regional Cooperative Marketing Program in Southeast Missouri.
The commission served the counties of Dunklin, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Scott and Stoddard and the cities of Cape Girardeau and Poplar Bluff.
"This concept of regional marketing represents a unique, new program offered by the DED," said DED Director Joseph L. Driskill. "This new, innovative program benefits several communities within a specified region that may not otherwise be able to fund a marketing plan to help attract additional companies and jobs to the area."
The Regional Cooperative Marketing Program is administered through DED's Business Expansion and Attraction Group. It is a pilot program designed to enhance the marketing activities of local regional organizations, call attention to the region's advantages to site new business facilities and to learn about new and effective ways for regional marketing. State funds are used in collaboration with local funds and resources to cooperatively support the regional marketing program.
