Dana Corp. of Toledo, Ohio, has announced record second-quarter sales and profits.
Sales for the quarter were $2.3 billion, reflecting a 9 percent increase in sales from the same period a year ago. Net income rose 24 percent, to $116 million. Earnings per diluted share were $1.08, up 21 percent from the second quarter of 1997.
Dana's six-month consolidated sales were $4.7 billion. Profit for the first two quarters of 1998 was $24 million, a company record for a six-month period.
A local Dana facility is the Spicer Axle Division in Cape Girardeau.
Dana is a leading global supplier of original equipment components to vehicular, industrial and mobile off-highway markets and their related after-markets. The company, founded in 1904, operates in 30 countries and employs more than 50,000 people. Dana reported record sales in 1997.
