BUSINESS MEMO: APPLEBEE'S 1,000TH

Applebee's recently opened its 1,000th Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar restaurant, at Aurora, Colo.

Applebee's is the first casual-dining chain to reach the 1,000 milestone, said Lloyd Hill, chief executive officer of Applebee's International Inc., headquarters at Overland Park, Kan.

Applebee's, which is expected to exceed more than $2 billion in sales this year, was established in 1980 by T.J. Palmer as T.J. Applebee's Edibles and Elixirs.

The local Applebee's restaurant is at 202 S. Broadview.
