Vernon Robert is semi-retired at Baker Implement Co., but he shows up at work almost every day.
Robert, who joined the former Schneider Equipment in 1948, a year after it was founded, will be a guest of honor during a special 50-year anniversary observance this week.
Schneider Equipment Co. Inc. was founded in 1947 by Bill Schneider and was sold two years later to Carl Kammann. Robert joined the company as a parts clerk, became assistant manager in 1955 and was named vice president and general manager in 1972.
The company at Bloomfield Road and Kingshighway was sold to Baker Implement Co. in 1994. Baker Implement, headquartered at Kennett, operates a number of Case-IH dealerships in Southeast Missouri and northeast Arkansas.
Robert remained with Baker Implement as general manager and is now semi-retired.
Refreshments will be available at the dealership throughout the 50th Anniversary week.
