KRCU Radio will hold an open house Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. to observe the anniversary of its affiliation with National Public Radio.

The Small Business Development Center will conduct counseling sessions in three areas this month.

The counselor, Gil Degenhardt, will be available Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce office. The counseling sessions are free of charge.

He will conduct sessions at the Sikeston Chamber of Commerce Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and at the Southeast Missouri Regional Planning office in Perryville Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Appointments may be made by contacting the respective offices. The sessions last about an hour.

POPLAR BLUFF Wendy's Restaurants will be opening in Poplar Bluff and Sikeston, providing 65 new jobs at each facility.

Lee Short, vice president of operations at Wenco Franchise Management, Memphis, Tenn., announced opening of the Poplar Bluff restaurant. Wendy's is expected to open in February North Westwood Blvd.

Short said Wendy's starts new franchises with 60 employees and five management people. Mike Williams will manage the Poplar Bluff restaurant. Hiring of additional employees will get under way in early January.

Construction is already under way at the Sikeston Wendy's.

The new restaurants are among more than 4,000 in the chain.

Recent environmental legislation and action have brought a new set of requirements for compliance by Missouri businesses, which must be prepared to deal with new rules in a timely land cost-effective manner.

Norb Plassmeyer, director of Legislative and Environmental Affairs for Associated Industries of Missouri, will discuss environmental issues during an "Environmental Issues Briefing" to be held at the Holiday Inn here Dec. 2 at 11:30 a.m.

Plassmeyer will discuss the new Clean Air Act, storm-water permits, and expected environmental legislation for 1993.

Cost of the session is $15. Reservations are available by writing Associated Industries of Missouri, P. O. Box 1709, Jefferson City, Mo., 65102, or calling (314)-634-2246 before Nov. 30.

Capital Bancorporation's third-quarter net income of $1,482,000 increased 11.1 percent over the same period a year ago and 17.8 percent from the previous quarter in 1992.

Earnings per share for the three-month and nine-month periods were 45 cents and $1.32 respectively. The year-to-date income was $3,775,000.

Capital Bancorporation, a multibank holding company headquartered in Cape Girardeau, operates 17 banking facilities in Missouri.

Two more Southeast Missouri Ford dealerships Lutesville Motor Co. and Bluff City Ford at Poplar Bluff have added new Service Bay Diagnostic Systems to their service departments.

Ford Groves of Cape Girardeau earlier announced it had acquired the system.

The equipment, exclusive to Ford dealers, is hooked up directly with a link in Detroit. It checks the entire electrical system, fuel system, computer system and the base engine of a vehicle.

More than 3,500 dealers are expected to have the new machines by early 1993.

he approximate cost of the machine is $40,000.

The workers' compensation law, OSHA, labor relations and health care costs are among topics to be discussed during the "Employee Management: Doing It Right" conference and exhibit at Drury Lodge Wednesday.

Four concurrent sessions will be conducted with a choice of two topics during each workshop. They will feature speakers from private, public and government organizations.

Shelba Branscum, associate professor at Southeast Missouri State University, will be luncheon speaker.
