Dr. Ronald Wiedmer has joined Sears Roebuck and Co., Town Plaza Shopping Center, as a full-time optometrist.

Wiedmer, an optometrist for 17 years, previously worked in the St. Louis area.

Cole Vision Inc. operates vision centers in Sears stores and has been at the local store for three years.

Wiedmer's hours at the center will be 9 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Mondays; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays; 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursdays; and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays.

May Garmon of Cape Girardeau has joined Hair Biz, 312 Independence, as a hair stylist.

Garmon, who has five years of experience, is a graduate of Stage One, The Hair School.

She has worked in various shops in Cape Girardeau, including Famous Barr and Regis.

The Small Business Development Center will conduct counseling sessions in three areas this month.

The counselor, Gil Degenhardt, will be available June 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce office. The counseling sessions (about one hour) are free. Call 335-3312 for appointment.

He will conduct sessions at the Sikeston Chamber of Commerce June 22 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Appointments are available by calling 471-2498.

He will hold sessions at the Southeast Missouri Regional Planning office in Perryville June 24 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Appointments are available by calling 547-8357.

The Small Business Development Center represents a partnership for economic development" between Southeast Missouri State University, the U.S. Small Business Administration, local financial institutions, area utility companies and Southeast Missouri municipalities. The goal of the center is to stimulate diversity and growth in small business by assisting new and existing businesses to become more productive and more profitable.

Larry Sexton of Sellers-Sexton Inc., Rolla, has been selected 55th president of the Missouri Automobile Dealers Association.

New officers were elected last week.

Other officers include Carl Richardson, Richard-Wynette Motors, Malden, first vice president; Mark Smith, Dick Smith Ford, Inc., Kansas City, second vice president; Steve Morris, Ellisville, executive vice president; and Ron Moore, Moore Automotive Group, Ellisville, treasurer.

The trade organization has a membership of 535 new-car dealers.

Dr. David Kapp of Perryville is serving as a host for a preceptor program for students from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Kapp is one of 105 Missouri physicians who have volunteered to help educate future osteopathic physicians through the preceptor program, which allows students to experience office practice with rural, primary care physicians.

Don Manarang, a student from Anaheim, Calif. is observing Kapp in his office.

Dr. Robert Kessinger, a specific chiropractic, of Kessinger Clinic of Specific Chiropractic, 1424 Kurre Lane, was guest speaker at the Philosophy Club at Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield recently.

Kessinger discussed principles and practice of specific chiropractic and how to apply the science to help people.

Senior Mary Kay Cosmetics sales director Jana Jateff of Cape Girardeau has won the use of a 1993 Pontiac Gram-Am for a two-year period.

The car is the seventh Jateff has won during her 10 years with Mary Kay, which awards the use of cars based on sales and recruiting efforts.

Charles Peters, Burfordville Route 1, a salesman for Walters Buildings, recently attended a meeting of Jack Walters & Sons Corp. at Lawrenceburg, Ky.

Peters was recognized for his sales.

Walters Corp. sells agricultural, commercial and industrial structures.

The River City Chapter of the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses has received its charter.

The association's primary focus is continuing education for its members as well as injury prevention.

The local group is working with the Cape Girardeau Area Safe Kids Coalition, jointly sponsored by St. Francis Medical C enter and Southeast Missouri Hospital to help promote child safety and head injury preventions.

The River City chapter meets the first Monday of each month at St. Francis Medical Center. Additional information is available by contacting Diana Glaus, 335-1251.

The Missouri Hearing Aid Society has launched a new program designed to assist the needy hearing-impaired by providing free hearing instruments.

Several hearing instruments, valued at $1,000, have been donated by Maico Hearing Instruments. Oneita McClary was the recipient of the in-the-ear instrument in Cape Girardeau. Audiological testing, fitting and continued service will be donated by Williams Hearing Center, 320 Broadway.
