Housing workshop to be held at Biehle eateryThe Southeast Missouri Regional Planning Commission will hold an affordable housing development workshop at the Country Kettle on Aug. 25. The eatery is located just off the Biehle exit off Interstate 55 south of Perryville, Mo.

The workshop will feature guest speakers who will address a number of topics, including tax credits, construction do's and don'ts and how to develop a project in a community.

New Madrid company gets government grantKontek Industries recently announced that it has received a $2.4 million grant from the federal government for research, engineering development and deployment of blast-resistant barriers and barrier standards for homeland defense. The company, based in New Madrid, Mo., will use the funds in partnership with University of Missouri campuses in Rolla and Columbia to establish functionality and architectural standards for barricade systems.
