New hours announced for veterans services
Due to the recent move of the Missouri Career Center to the Marquette Tower, new hours have been established for the center's veterans services in Cape Girardeau. Local veterans employment representative Joe Elmer is now at 216 N. Fountain St. His new office hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and 8 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Center holding counseling for small businesses
The Small Business Development Center of Southeast Missouri State University will be conducting counseling sessions for area small businesses in Cape Girardeau, Perryville, Mo., and Sikeston, Mo. Counselor Gil Degenhardt will be available for free one-hour sessions by appointment at:

St. Francis gets check for nursing program
Heartland Advanced Practice Nursing Network recently presented a check for $1,000 to St. Francis Medical Center in support of the center's Institute for Nursing Excellence. The institute is designed to strengthen the nursing practice, promote nursing importance and recognize professional nursing achievements.
