__CAPE GIRARDEAU PARTNERSHIP HAS NEW NAME__

The Cape Girardeau Partnership for Higher Education was renamed Cape College Center. The institution's advisory council approved the new name after the presidents of the three partnering institutions -- Southeast Missouri State University, Three Rivers College and Mineral Area College -- agreed to the change.

__RAY'S MARKS DOUBLE ANNIVERSARY__

Ray's of Kelso celebrated its 10th and 50th anniversaries in October: 10 for the number of years the restaurant has occupied the historic bank building in Kelso, Missouri, and 50 for the Ray's brand. The business originally opened as Ray's House of Pizza and Steaks in Kelso.

__MASSAGE SOLUTIONS OPENS IN CAPE__

Therapeutic Massage Solutions, 1409 N. Mount Auburn Road, Suite E in Cape Girardeau, opened Oct. 1 and is owned by Monique Little.

__SHEAR ENVI HAS NEW OWNER__

Shear Envi, 1610 N. Kingshighway, Suite 107 in Cape Girardeau, is now owned by Nikki Meyer and changed ownership Aug.1.

__SALON, BOUTIQUE HOLDS RIBBON CUTTING__

PARK HILLS, Mo. -- The Park Hills-Leadington Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting Sept. 26 for the opening of Ooh La La Salon and Queen Anne's Lace Boutique, which has a new location at 1421 E. Main St. in Park Hills, the Park Hills Daily Journal reported. The business owners are Alicia Eden and Iris Richardson. Ooh La La Salon specializes in haircuts, haircolor, updos, keratin treatments, extensions, shellac nails, waxing, massages and more. Queen Anne's Lace Boutique offers unique clothing, handcrafted jewelry, hair accessories, gifts and more.

__SKYVIEW ANIMAL CLINIC BREAKS GROUND ON NEW BUILDING__

After nearly 40 years at 883 S. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau, the veterinary team at Skyview Animal Clinic is looking forward to a move. The clinic broke ground Oct. 3 for a new building on Megan Drive, just off North Kingshighway near Cape County Park South. Dr. Sean Byrd said its current building is too small and is having trouble suiting the needs of the clinic. The new building will offer more exam rooms, be more cat-friendly with better-separated areas between cats and dogs and more client-friendly overall, Byrd said. The veterinary team plans to move in by the end of April, and in the meantime will stay open in its current location.

__WINGS ETC. OPENS NEW LOCATION__

Wings Etc. Grill and Pub, a full-service restaurant and sports bar featuring wings, ribs, burgers, subs, salads and more, opened a Cape Girardeau location Sept. 30. It is the second area store for the franchise, which opened a first in Jackson in January 2013. Franchise owner Joe Hobbs said in a news release he hopes to build on the success of the Jackson location with the newest opening at 3047 William St. in Cape Girardeau.

__LITTLE CAESARS OPENS IN POPLAR BLUFF__

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Little Caesars opened Sept. 30 at 1877 N. Westwood Blvd. in the Mansion Mall in Poplar Bluff, the Daily American Republic reported. The store is owned by John and Angela Polaseck, who moved to Poplar Bluff from Michigan to open the restaurant.

__HARPS FOOD STORE NOW OPEN__

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- The Harps grocery store is now open at 1301 Shelby Road in Poplar Bluff. Michael Lack is the store manager. Harps, headquartered in Springdale, Arkansas, has 76 stores in Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.

__K&K STORE OPENS IN QULIN__

QULIN, Mo. --The Greater Poplar Bluff Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting Oct. 15 for K&K Corner Store Inc., 13726 Highway 53 in Qulin. Sarah Khoan owns the business.

__FARMINGTON CHAMBER NAMED BEST IN STATE__

FARMINGTON, Mo. -- Doug McDermott, president and CEO of the Farmington Regional Chamber of Commerce, announced Oct. 16 that the chamber was named 2014 Missouri Chamber of the Year by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Farmington Press reported. The award will be presented to the chamber on Nov. 20 in St. Louis during the annual meeting and awards banquet of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

__CAPE A SEMIFINALIST FOR MAIN STREET AWARD__

A model for revitalization, economic development and historic preservation in Cape Girardeau spearheaded by the downtown organization Old Town Cape is being recognized by the National Main Street Center. Cape Girardeau was selected as one of 10 nationally accredited communities to be a semifinalist for the 2015 Great American Main Street Award, which honors achievements in strengthening downtowns and commercial districts. Cape Girardeau will receive national exposure through promotions from the National Main Street Center and the National Trust for Historic Preservation because of the designation, according to a news release from Old Town Cape. Finalists will be announced at the National Main Street Conference in Atlanta in March.

__SOUTHEAST MBA PROGRAM NAMED AMONG BEST BUSINESS SCHOOLS__

Southeast Missouri State University's master of business administration program was included in The Princeton Review's "The Best 296 Business Schools: 2015 Edition," which compiles a group of outstanding business schools. A profile of Southeast's program included in the book says it provides a "top-notch education at an affordable price."

__MINGLEWOOD BREWERY HOLDS SOFT OPENING__

A new downtown Cape Girardeau microbrewery and pub opened its doors for the first time Oct. 17 and will serve only drinks while kitchen construction is ongoing. The brewpub is at 121 Broadway in the old Keys building.

__FARM BUREAU INSURANCE OFFICE MOVES__

A need for more office space prompted Cape Girardeau's Missouri Farm Bureau Insurance agents to move recently. The insurance company now is in the West Park Village business center at 2504 William St. It previously was at 2907 Independence St., and outgrew that location with the expansion of business and hiring of another agent, said commercial broker Tom Kelsey of Lorimont Place, who handled the lease. The full-time licensed agents in the Cape Girardeau office are Michael Siebert, Justin Vines and Landon Besand. The company offers home, business, farm, ranch, automobile and liability insurance coverage along with life insurance and annuity investment packages.

__MEDICAL ALARMS FIRM MOVES INTO FORMER FEDERAL BUILDING__

Around the Clock Medical Alarms has leased space at 339 Broadway in Cape Girardeau. Owner Linda Bass said the company provides a local and personal medical alarm option for seniors and families. Service is available on a monthly basis without a contract, and customers may choose from several plan options to meet their budget needs. The company is in Suite 148 inside the former federal building and is the third tenant to move in during the past several months.

__CAPE CARPET CLEANING AND RESTORATION NOW OPEN__

Cape Carpet Cleaning and Restoration is a new local cleaning service company owned by Tim Beard. Beard said the company offers cleaning of carpet, upholstery, tile and grout, along with vehicle interiors and area and oriental rugs. Beard also plans to add water damage restoration to his services. The company may be reached at 573-270-2810.

__HOBBY SHOP ADDS ART PARTIES__

A new activity is being offered at Tailwinds R/C Hobby Shop at 1 S. Plaza Way in Cape Girardeau. "An Art Party" is a paint party studio experience where participants may select a design, go to an event at the shop and paint, then take their work home with them. Mixed media parties, open art days and office and birthday parties also are planned to be offered.

__DAN'S RECYCLING OPENS ON KINGSHIGHWAY__

Dan's Recycling & Auto Care, 1130 S. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau, opened Oct. 15 and is owned by Daniel Meskovic. Activities of the business are listed as nonferrous recycling and starter and alternator work, according to a business license filed with the city.

__CHILTON OPENS PROPERTY SHOP__

The Property Shop SEMO LLC, 107 West Drive, Suite D in Cape Girardeau, opened Oct. 17 and is owned by Seymour Chilton. The business is listed as a real estate company.

__SCHNUCKS TO OPEN NOV. 19 IN FARMINGTON__

FARMINGTON, Mo. -- The new Schnucks store at 942 Valley Creek Drive in Farmington will open Nov. 19, the Park Hills Daily Journal reported. The 61,000-square-foot food and drug store will include a drive-thru pharmacy and more than 40,000 different products, along with service areas in meat, seafood and deli. David Alcorn, a 32-year career grocer, has been named store manager. He will be joined by co-manager Shelly Moore. The store will employ approximately 100 people.

__CAPE IMAGING HAS NEW NAME__

Cape Imaging at 3065 William St. in Cape Girardeau now is Auburn Park Imaging. The company changed names in September. Services offered include X-rays, ultrasounds and MRI and CT scans.

__FAMILY DOLLAR OPENS IN CAPE__

Family Dollar, 736 William St., Cape Girardeau, is under the management of David R. Styka, and lists an opening date of Nov. 6.

__FORD GROVES CELEBRATES 100 YEARS__

The Ford Groves car dealership is celebrating 100 years in business. A luncheon was held in October with Ford representatives, dealership employees and their families. Ford Groves, apart from being one of the area's oldest businesses, is also the 25th-oldest Ford dealership in the country. Current dealership locations are in Cape Girardeau and Jackson.

__THREE RIVERS NETS COMMUNICATION AWARDS__

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Three Rivers College's Communications Department won five "Medallion" awards for excellence in public relations from District 5 of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations, according to a news release from the college. The department earned first place awards for the college's website, a promotional "Graduation Success Stories" video and the college's monthly "President's Perspective" e-newsletter. It won third place awards for the 2013 viewbook it produced for prospective students, and for custom-designed signage for the institution's college store. NCMPR is an affiliate of the American Association of Community Colleges and represents marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges. District 5 includes seven Midwestern states and one Canadian province. Members of the communications department at Three Rivers are Teresa Johnson, director of communications, and Jonathan Atwood, coordinator of media services.

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- The Greater Poplar Bluff Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting Oct. 31 for the Massage Clinic of Poplar Bluff, 1611 Lurlyn Blvd., owned by Dean and Danielle Davis.

__MEXICAN RESTAURANT OPENS IN MALDEN__

MALDEN, Mo. -- The Malden Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting Oct. 27 for La Estancia, a new Mexican restaurant at 2772 N. Douglass St.

__BOLLINGER COUNTY CHAMBER HONORS BUSINESSES__

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- The Bollinger County Chamber of Commerce honored two businesses in October: Zalma Masonic Lodge No. 545, Veteran Business/Organization of the Third Quarter, and Grassy General Store, Rising Star Business of the Third Quarter.

__IHOP OPENS IN CAPE__

A new International House Of Pancakes restaurant had its first day in business Nov. 3 in the old Pasta House location in Cape Girardeau. The restaurant, at 2406 William St., serves breakfast all day and lunch and dinner. The owner, according to a business license filed at Cape Girardeau city hall, is Pancake Holding Co. LLC. The managing officer is listed as Anand Patel.
