Blunt appoints Bootheel native head of PSC

JEFFERSON CITY -- A former Pemiscot County man has been appointed chairman of the Missouri Public Service Commission by Governor-elect Matt Blunt.

Jeff Davis, who had been appointed to the commission by Gov. Bob Holden in April 2004, will now head the five-member panel.

"Jeff Davis has demonstrated an ability to strike the proper balance between regulated utilities and Missouri consumers. I know he will continue to do this as chairman," Blunt said.

Prior to his appointment to the PSC, Davis served as general counsel and chief of staff for Senate President Pro-Tem Peter Kinder. In that capacity, he oversaw the pro-tem's legislative agenda and was responsible for recommending assignment of bills to Senate committees and provided legal advice to the Senate Gubernatorial Appointments Committee and Senate Administration Committee.

Davis is a Braggadocio, Mo., native who lives in Jefferson City. He holds a bachelors degree in political science from Southeast Missouri State University and a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
