Finding common ground on community core values and confronting and solving difficult issues is what the Cape Chamber team is all about.
From businesses to schools, churches to parents, charities to civic organizations, what do we hear frequently about job applicants? The soft stuff is the hard stuff. Regardless of industry, its becoming increasingly difficult to find employees with adequate soft skills which in reality, are the essential skills for both work and life.
In response, the Chamber created Capable. Capable brings individuals together to create a common language around the issue of essential skills and aims to better connect our community with key resources. An enhanced focus on these critical skills will help individuals in Cape Girardeau County be more prepared for life and work.
Capable is one of the most comprehensive, community-wide essential skills campaigns in the nation. Partner organizations with the Chamber include: Southeast Missouri State University, Cape and Jackson public schools, the Career and Technology Center, ABCToday and more. Essential skills to be highlighted in the initiative are derived from the 4 Cs: communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking. Each month, partners and local businesses will focus on one skill that falls within these areas.
Capable recently launched in conjunction with the school year. Stay in touch with the initiative via the Cape Chambers social outlets, and be a part of the solution yourself by visiting capechamber.com/programs.
