THE PUBLIC MIND: READER: PROJECT SHOULD CONSIDER CYCLISTS

This article comes from our electronic archive and has not been reviewed. It may contain glitches.

Dear Editor:

In Sunday's edition, J. Ronald Fischer, the city manager, said the Sprigg St. extension from Bertling to Lexington and eventually Highway 177 will likely be under contract by the end of the year.

As a bicyclist I've ridden to the Trail of Tears Park from the city and the absence of a berm along 177 makes it a dangerous adventure. The rudeness of impatient motorists is beyond belief. This proposed extension of Sprigg St. would give the city an opportunity to include berms for bicycle safety when specs for this project and future improvements are drawn up.

If you could give this issue some consideration, it would be appreciated.

Sincerely yours,

Harlan E. Fiehler
