LETTERS: SICK-ART EXHIBIT IS AN AFFRONT TO CHRISTIANS

To the editor:

As a local artist, I feel I should say something about the elephant dung that is causing a stink at the Brooklyn Museum of Art in New York. I saw a fleeting glimpse of the thing on television. The elephant-poop breast was clearly visible and was clearly intended as an affront to Christians. The sick-art piece is a portrait of a woman with an exposed breast of elephant manure titled "The Holy Virgin Mary."

People promoting sick-art exhibits like this one are irresponsible, ignorant and disrespectful. They are very liberal in their ways, intent on slandering others while humoring or amusing themselves. Suppose the thing was titled "The Holy Hillary Clinton."

But Christians do not lose their faith because simpleminded people do disrespectful things. This art exhibit is not validated by calling it free speech any more than abortion is validated by calling it free choice.

Abort the exhibit.
