LETTERS: SIXTH-GRADER'S POEM TELLS RETIRING TEACHER HOW MUCH SHE MEANT TO STUDENTS

This article comes from our electronic archive and has not been reviewed. It may contain glitches.

To the editor:

This poem was written by Natasha Watson, a sixth-grade student at Kelso C-7 School in New Hamburg, Mo.

She wrote the poem as a gift for our music teacher, Marlene Creech, who is retiring.

I think she has done an excellent job.

Teachers

Teachers are people who help you see things unclear

Even when the answer seems oh so near.

You'd think they'd get tired of all the helping they do,

But with every question the answer is new.

They come to your rescue when you've had some bad days.

And even when they're gone their happiness stays.

So let's respect them, both you and me,

Because without them, where would we be?
