LETTERS: FBLA STUDENTS MAKE TEACHER PROUD OF TEENS

To the editor:

So many days we open the newspaper to stories about a few teen-agers who have done wrong, and we listen as adults talk about the faults of teens. I would like for you to hear the other side.

On April 22 two Delta High School FBLA students and I joined FBLA students from Chaffee, Mo., and Scott City, Mo., to travel to Columbia, Mo., for state contest. At Columbia, there were hundreds of students from all over the state, including Cape Girardeau and Jackson, Mo.

I wish more adults could have experienced those three days. These students had worked hard to get to this point. Students loaded and unloaded my luggage without being asked or complaining. They held doors for me and were respectful, polite, well-mannered and well-dressed. They used words like "excuse me" and "thank you."

I was reminded why I went into teaching and that we have little reason to worry about the future. There are many fantastic, talented teen-agers around. Erin Cook and Craig Bock did a great job. We had fun, and I am very proud of both of them.
