Rock musician to speak at LaCroix Church

You might recognize the name Brian "Head" Welch. He played guitar for the rock band Korn and quickly attained worldly fame. But there was something missing.

Welch's life was filled with drugs, sex and hard living. A single father, he left the band in 2005 and became a born-again Christian.

This weekend the rock star will be in Cape Girardeau to share his testimony at LaCroix Church. Service times are 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 9:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday. The church is at 3102 Lexington Ave., and the event is free and open to the public.

Welch has written several books and has rejoined the rock band he founded. His message this weekend is about hope and redemption through faith in Jesus Christ.

La Croix pastor, the Rev. Ron Watts, told the Southeast Missourian that there's been interest in this weekend's speaker.

"A lot of people are asking questions, and we have church members bringing friends to hear him speak," Watts said. "A lot of people are looking forward to it."

You can read more about this weekend's services and Welch in today's SE Live.

The testimony Welch shares will be powerful. We hope it leads to changed lives and a renewed commitment to God.

Thank you to LaCroix for its efforts. Special events like this are important. They can help reach those who perhaps would not otherwise come to church.

We hope you consider attending one of the services.
