Scouting for Food response shows 29% increase

To the editor:

On behalf of the Shawnee District Scouts and adult volunteers, we extend our thanks for a successful Scouting for Food event. Local residents in the district -- which covers Cape Girardeau, Perry and Bollinger counties as well as Scott City, Advance and Chaffee in Scott County -- contributed over 63,000 food items that will go to local food pantries. This was a 29 percent increase in giving from a year ago. Thank you for supporting the Boy Scouts and this quality community program.
