Greatest SEMO Homecoming ever

To the editor:

Each year excitement builds and motels fill as Southeast Missouri State University's Homecoming near. The celebration of the 100th anniversary of Academic Hall gave special meaning to this year's event.

Recently, the Missourian gave an account of the celebration that was carried out to perfection by Jane Stacy, director of alumni services and a longtime affiliate of the university.

Many interesting and beautiful floats represented former years of the university, which had its beginning with the old normal school that was gutted by fire in the early 1900s. Dear memories stayed long with many who attend the school. My brother, who was one of the school's students, furnished me with many of those memories that I still treasure.

Much of the Homecoming was in keeping with the anniversary and in depicting the stately domed Academic Hall. A highlight of this year's Homecoming was the shuttle that made access to Academic Hall quicker and easier.

Even though each Homecoming is a special event, I feel this year's celebration will be remembered as the greatest of any. I just bet you agree.
