Riverside libraries offer help with tests

Riverside Regional Library is offering a truly innovative service that should be a boon to its patrons.

Any Riverside Regional Library cardholder can log onto a computer to prepare for the ACT, SAT, GED, firefighters exam and EMT exam or many other tests that are required for students and professionals.

Younger students may like tests on citizenship, reading, grammar and more. The scores are available immediately after the test taker submits his or her answers.

If he or she does well, there's positive reinforcement. If not, the feedback suggests areas for additional practice and guide the user to free online tutorial courses.

There are six library locations where patrons, if they don't have the Internet, can go to do test preparation online. They are in Jackson, Perryville, Altenburg, Scott City, Benton and Oran. Anyone with a home computer and an Internet connection can get more information at www.showme.net/rrl.

The library's administrators are to be commended for subscribing to the service that provides these tests, thus helping patrons to become better educated.
